“Good.” He leaned forward and brushed his lips against my forehead, making me smile.

“So are you ready to find a lunar fae soon? To get the connection going?”

His lips turned downward. “Not quite.”

I waited for an explanation, and he didn’t make me wait long.

“Storm needs me to repair this city, and a few others that were destroyed while we were insane. His earth fae aren’t extraordinarily strong, so it’ll take months for them to accomplish what I can get done in a week or two.”

He continued, “I spent a few hours yesterday, helping Dissiri understand her magic. Sirus was hoping maybe her struggles had to do with lack of understanding, but we realized quickly that wasn’t the case. She understands, she just gets overwhelmed. The magic seems to have affected the way her mind processes the things her senses are taking in.”

“Damn.” I grimaced. That meant Harper’s assumptions were right, but I was positive she would’ve preferred to be wrong.

It was a hard situation for a little girl who didn’t deserve it. And I hated that for her, more than I could express with words.

“Okay, so we repair the cities, and then we seal the bond?” I checked.

“Unless I convince you that it’s too dangerous,” he agreed.

I scowled. “That’s not going to happen.”

He wrapped his hands around my ass and dragged me down a little, trapping his erection between us as he changed the subject. “You know, we probably have some time before anyone expects us out there.”

“Do we?” My lips curved upward.

“Mmhm. Plenty of time.”

“So you think we should play checkers or something?”

He grinned. “Whatever the hell checkers is, yes. That was certainly my intention.”

“Checkers sounds pretty good.” I leaned my head forward to kiss him, but he surprised me by rolling us over smoothly, so his massive form was positioned over the top of me.

My fingers gripped his shoulders as I blinked up at him, and found him grinning even more widely. “You’re too big for either of our goods,” I grumbled.

He chuckled. “You wouldn’t have me any other way.”

The old me would’ve hated him for being right.

The new me just grabbed his face, dragged him closer to me, and kissed him.

Odin’s tongue was tangled in mine a heartbeat later, one of his hands on my breast and the other beside my head, holding his weight up off of me as his mouth devoured mine.

Our bodies moved against each other, despite the clothing separating us. His hand left my breast after a few seconds, sliding down to the strappy sleeves of my dress. I’d fallen asleep in it, and made it the whole night without burning it luckily. Unluckily, the fae-style outfits were not ideal for stripping quickly; they were too tight and clingy around your torso for that.

But Odin didn’t seem to be in any kind of a hurry as he slowly began to drag the straps down, and down, and down.

I groaned when the backs of his fingers finally brushed my bare nipples, and he grinned playfully against my lips when he resumed slowly dragging the fabric down my skin.

“You’re torturing me,” I mumbled into his mouth.

“Good. You torture me by just existing.” He nipped at my lip, and I rocked my hips against him, making him growl at me a little. The backs of his fingers brushed my nipples again, and I arched my back, pressing myself against him.

“Don’t get any ideas. I’m taking my time with you,” he murmured to me, pulling his lips away and trailing them down my throat.

“Bastard,” I shot back, though I lifted my hips off the ground so he could tug my dress off a little easier.

“Mmhm.” His lips trailed between my breasts as he slid down my body, peeling the dress away with him.
