Rigga covered her mouth with her hands as her eyes watered. Verto was blinking quickly, rubbing at his own eyes.

Oli launched toward us, throwing her arms around me and Odin at the same time. “We’re so happy for you. You know Sevv gets defensive, but I swear, we are so, so happy for you.”

Sevva joined the hug, too, squeezing even tighter than Oli. “Oli’s right. We’re happy for you—and really damn glad you were here today. Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. Mostly,” Odin teased her.

She snorted, and my lips curved upward as the women released us, stepping back hand-in-hand.

Odin squeezed my hip. He lowered his lips to my head and pressed a kiss to my hair before telling his family, “Sorry to kick you out, but we need to focus on the land before the cliffs start crumbling again.”

“Of course. Sevv and Oli will figure out the furniture while you do—and we’ll get the kitchen put together and stocked,” Rigga said quickly.

“We need a mattress for Granite before anything else,” I said, remembering what the kid had said about the magic attacking his spine, as well as his throat. Though I couldn’t visibly see anything wrong, I imagined there must’ve been some pain involved.

“I’ll grab one now,” Sevva agreed. Her eyes lingered on me for a moment. “Welcome to the family, Margo. And the city, too.”

Her lips curved upward a little, and I returned her half-smile with one of my own. “Thanks, I think.”

She grinned, and then vanished.

After another round of hugs, Odin led me into a huge bedroom that I was fairly confident he intended to be ours.

He pulled me down with him as he sat with his back to one of the walls. I settled between his legs, relaxing against his chest as his palms landed on the floor on either side of us.

“I love you, you know,” he told me, pressing his lips to my cheek.

“I love you too,” I admitted.

He flashed me a grin. “I know.”

I laughed, and he chuckled too before his mouth met mine.

The world disappeared around us as we kissed, the same way it always had. And, I hoped, the same way it alwayswould.

We were in this together—and for the first time in my life, I wasn’t afraid of what I stood to lose because of that.

Chapter21

Odin- 3 Months Later

Margo’s hipsswayed in the kitchen as she danced to music none of us could hear, and I saw flashes of her movements as she stepped past the mirrors we’d set up strategically around the living space. Her hair swayed with her as she moved, and I caught myself frozen in place for the dozenth time, just waiting for another glimpse of her perfect form to fill my vision.

We were making dinner together, with a grumpy Granite sitting on the couch a few yards away, his nose buried in a book.

I felt a soft tug on her magic, and dropped my stone knife on the pile of half-chopped vegetables on the countertop in front of me.

She halted, and I felt her hands going to her stomach. “Did you feel that?”

“I felt it.” The words were gravelly, more emotional than I wanted them, but Margo despised it when I tried to hide my feelings.

“Was it…” she trailed off, and lifted her head, most-likely staring at me.

“It was.”

A moment of silence passed.

“It’s annoying when you have silent conversations,” Granite grumbled from the couch.
