The grooms and two groomsmen exited the house and stood beside the preacher.

Kalie leaned over. “She’s marrying two men?”

“No, only Michael Thomas, but she’s committing herself to both men,” he told Kalie. “It’s our way. Both are her husbands, but she’s only legally married to one.”

The wedding march sounded and they all stood and turned to see his two fathers leading Ashley down the aisle in her white wedding gown. A big smile spread across her face as she looked at her men waiting for her on each side of the preacher.

Yes, he’d seen ceremonies like this most of his life, but this one was really special. This was his baby sister, and while at first, he had been leery of Daniel Hall, he now knew the man had done his best to make certain his family name was cleared of the wrongdoing they had been accused of in the past.

The man raised prize racing horses and he and Michael had become fast friends. Then they started courting his sister and that had taken some getting used to. But, now, here they were on their wedding day.

With mixed emotions, he watched as his fathers handed his sister off to her grooms. It was hard to let her go.

The next ten minutes were spent saying the vows and when his sister repeated hers to both men, Kalie appeared astonished.

“She’s vowing to both men,” she whispered.

He smiled and nodded, feeling emotional. Soon, the three of them would leave on their honeymoon, and it wouldn’t be long until his parents had grandchildren and he had nieces and nephews.

Glancing at Colby, he saw the stoic expression on the man’s face. If only he would accept that the two of them should marry a woman and share her between them. Especially this woman between them now.

“You may kiss your bride,” the preacher said.

Both men turned Ashley into their arms and laid one on her. A rush of warmth filled Preston. He was so happy for Ashley, and he prayed these men would take good care of her or his brothers and fathers would let the men know their feelings.

Ashley took both of her men’s arms and they walked out toward the barn.

They were married and an intense feeling of jealousy overwhelmed Preston. Damn, but he wanted to get married, start a family, and share a life with a woman he loved.

His fathers stepped in front of the crowd. “We’d like for everyone to join us in the barn to celebrate the wedding of our daughter. We’ve got barbecue, a rodeo later this afternoon, and then this evening, a dance. Please stay and enjoy yourselves.”

They rose and Preston saw his mother racing toward him. Oh no.

“Incoming,” he said softly.

Colby laughed. “You’ve got plenty to answer for.”

“Preston, wait right there,” his mother said.

She rushed up to him and then her eyes widened at the sight of Kalie as she looked her over from head to toe.

“Hello,” she said. “I’m Elizabeth Nash, Preston’s mother.”

“Nice to meet you. Kalie Parker,” she said, taking his mother’s hand.

“Oh, from the Parker family,” she said. “I went to school with your father.”

“Really,” Kalie said.

“Oh yes, the last time I saw him, he was headed off to college,” she said. “Shame he’s never come back.”

There were rumors about Kalie’s father, but Preston was not going to speculate. In fact, he hoped to take Kalie to meet with Granny Jones.

“I’ve got to run, but I wanted to meet you,” she said. “Let’s chat more later. Right now, I’ve got to make certain the caterers are prepared for us. And Preston, we could have used your help last night.”

Guilt spread through him. What could he say? He had spent the evening between Kalie’s thighs and he’d completely forgotten about helping set up the wedding.

“Sorry, Mother,” he said. “I was busy.”
