Declan calls. “Maggie, you can’t get me this worked up before breakfast.”
I hear a laugh floating from her direction.
“Fuck off,” Zadie calls. “She’s just trying to exercise.”
Declan laughs and then says, “I can’t help it that she looks incredibly sexy doing it.”
The little ones are totting around the women. Micah, Zadie’s son, bends into downward dog beside her and then flips over into a somersault.
Juno starts laughing when one of the twins tots over to her and wraps her arms around Juno’s leg. “Oh, are you helping?”
She just smiles up at Juno.
“Yes. Morning yoga. My favorite.” I nearly jump when I hear Eli behind me.
“I want to do it,” Keene says, walking passed me.
Eli pats my shoulder. “Yeah. Come on. Let’s join.”
That’s the last thing I want to do right now, but I follow them outside.
“Show me something, Zadie,” Keene says.
“How about some balance poses?”
Keene groans. “My weakness. Fine. Let’s do it. You can make fun of how bad my balance is.”
Zadie demonstrates a tree pose, placing her foot just above her knee and balancing on the other leg. Keene tries it and stumbles.
Juno shakes her head. “Keene, why is your balance so bad?”
He shrugs and tries it again – unsuccessfully.
Juno pulls her leg up and then lifts her hands over her head. “If you want to make it harder, close your eyes.”
Keene growls. “I don’t want to make it harder.”
“Let’s see who can hold it the longest,” Brooklyn says.
“Well, it won’t be me,” Keene says. Juno just laughs.
“Ethan, come time us,” Zadie calls. “We want to see who can last the longest.”
Ethan walks outside and pulls out his phone. “Okay, ready, set, go.”
We all move into the pose.
“Eyes open or closed,” Brooklyn asked.
“God, open,” Eli says, wobbling a little. “There’s no way I can do this with my eyes closed.”
Keene falls over and Juno snaps, “Keene, you almost knocked me down.”
“But I didn’t. I’m impressed with your balance.”
Eli falls next.
The rest of us hold the pose for about a minute and then Juno says, “Bode, I’m impressed with your balance.”
