Declan turns to us and says, “Let’s party.”

We all cheer.

Some workers scurry out again. A DJ sets up. A dance floor appears along with a table with a stunning wedding cake, covered in real flowers.

“I can’t believe they kept all of this a secret,” I say, shaking my head.

“This is the way to go,” Bode says, looking around.

I turn to him. “Yeah?”

“Yeah. Surrounded by people you love. It’s beautiful and meaningful, but not too much fuss. Nothing excessive. I think this is perfect.”

I study him for a moment and then say, “I agree.”

I don’t peel my eyes away from him as quickly as I should. Maybe Bode is the perfect solution to my summer problem after all?

I thought he was off limits because of Eli, but maybe we could keep it a secret? Declan and Maggie kept their relationship a secret for years. And, it wouldn’t be a relationship. Just a little vacation fling. I know I annoy him, but he’s seems attracted to me, and I’m attracted to him.

Maybe...

A crease grows between his eyebrows. “Why are you looking at me like that?”

I raise my eyebrows. “What? Nothing. I just zoned out.”

The DJ starts playing music.

“Come on, Bo. Let’s have some fun,” I say, taking his hand and bringing him out to the dance floor.

Chapter Thirteen

Bode

Idon’t like the wayshe’s been looking at me tonight. It’s my own damn fault for kissing her. It was much better when she just thought I found her annoying. God, she looks so beautiful tonight, and we’re dressed like a couple somehow – attending a wedding together.

After we dance for a while, I sit down at the table to watch the action. This is the Sterling family at their best, and I’m loving every second of it. They are having so much fun tonight. I love how much they support and care for each other. I love they give each other shit and joke around. I love that they like to be around each other.
