When he stopped in front me, I held my breath. His eyes traveled over my body with such intensity I felt my knees wobble slightly.

“What are you doing to me, Saylor?” he softly asked.

My chest felt tight as I attempted to speak. “W-what do you mean?”

Mason lifted his fingers and lightly traced my jawline, and I thought I might melt into a mess on my own bedroom floor.

He moved closer to me, his lips inches from mine. I’d never longed for a man’s kiss like I did for Mason’s.

The man who was my boss. I leaned in, ready to bridge the space between us. Then, I remembered who I was about to kiss.

My boss.

Clearing my throat, I whispered, “We should probably get going.”

The look of disappointment in his eyes was quickly replaced by darkness.

“Right, we should go.”

And as quickly as he had come into my space, he was out of it. I watched Mason make his way through the door of my bedroom and out into the hallway.

“Bring a coat, Ms. Night. It’s going to get cold.”

The stabbing pain was almost too much to bear. One moment he’d acted like he was going to kiss me, and the next we were back to Ms. Night. It was my own fault for shutting him down before he could kiss me, but he was my boss. No good could come from kissing him.

I let out a sigh and brushed away my wounded ego.

So, Mason was going to act coldly simply because I wouldn’t kiss him. Well, to hell with that. I was over men playing games with me.

CHAPTER EIGHT

Mason

I FINISHED OFFmy drink and set it down on the counter. Never once did I take my eyes off of Saylor and the asshole she was currently chatting it up with.

“Mason, how are you doing? I haven’t really seen you since you’ve gotten to town.”

Pulling my eyes away from Saylor, I turned to see Natalie Burns standing there. She was the sister of one of my college friends.

“Natalie,” I said with a halfhearted grin.

“Are you here with anyone?” she asked.

I glanced back over at Saylor and stared at her for a few moments. My cock had gone hard as a rock when she’d opened her front door. So much so, it had taken everything out of me not to hike up her fucking dress and take her right there in the hall. Real gentleman-like, I knew.

Asshole. You’re her boss.

Saylor laughed and the bastard she was talking to brushed a piece of hair away from her eyes.

“No. I came with a colleague of mine.”

“Really? Well, is there anywhere we can go to…talk?”

I focused back on Natalie and smiled. “I’m sure we can find somewhere to go.”

I made my way across the large living room. The house was fucking crazy and had to have cost Jack and Carol a small fortune. When Jack gave us the tour earlier, I’d noted the empty office that was on the other side of the house. At the time, I’d fantasized about fucking Saylor in there. Now, I was taking one of my college buddy’s willing sisters in Saylor’s place.

Jesus. Stop this, Mason. She works for you, and she clearly can’t even stand the idea of a kiss let alone hitting the sack together.
