“No.”

I rub my forehead. I am getting a headache.

“Then you have nothing.”

“No. Travis, you don’t need the video – you just tell him you have it. Tell him to resign or you’ll give the video to the press. He won’t risk calling your bluff. Say you found it on a computer hard drive during the raid of ‘Velvet Handcuffs’.”

“Bogun Antonovich isn’t stupid. He won’t have that kind of evidence at his club. He will tell Reinholt I don’t have it.”

“Reinholt isn’t going to risk this information becoming public. He will believe you over Bogun Antonovich. Trust me. Reinholt will resign.”

“This is a big ask, Bobby. The Antonovich brothers are animals. They could come after my family!”

“You and your family will be under the Outfit’s protection. Travis, taking down the Antonovich brothers will look great on your resume. Everybody hates them and what they bring to the city. You can win the election for District Attorney with this raid.”

This conversation is getting tiresome. I hate politicians. I prop my feet up on the coffee table.

“Why do you have a hard on for the Bratva all of a sudden?”

“They grabbed my wife, Gwen.”

I loosen my tie. My anxiety is growing. My head aches. I need to get my wife back.

“What?” Both men ask in unison.

“I have 30 minutes to turn myself over to the Antonovich brothers, but that was over two hours ago.”

“What if they kill her?” Murphy asks.

“What do they want? Travis asks

“They won’t kill her. They need her alive. They only want to kill me. Christov Antonovich plans to marry her once I’m dead for the Fielding Real Estate Empire. They want me out as Capo and my brother, Paul, Jr. made capo. They want to weaken the Outfit. They want to run the underworld in Chicago.”

“This is crazy! They will ruin this city!” Murphy exclaims.

You see, everybody hates the Russians.

Travis adds, “This is absurd. She won’t marry Christov Antonovich.”

“She will if they threaten her father.”

“I don’t know Bobby, this is big.”

I hear Travis sigh. He is waffling. I need to convince him.

“If you don’t do this, I will take an army into ‘Velvet Handcuffs’ and attack them. It will make the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre look like a fucking picnic.”

“How do you know they are holding her there?” Murphy asks.

“She’s there. That club is their headquarters, their fortress. The Antonovich brothers are probably all there with their soldiers waiting for me to either turn myself over or attack them. They won’t be expecting a raid by law enforcement.”

“I’ll need a warrant. What should I tell a judge?” Travis asks.

I have them. I smile before I answer.

“Kidnapping, but take your pick - human trafficking, loan sharking, underage prostitution, gun smuggling money laundering, and drug dealing. Seize their computers. Invite your FBI friends. They are a terrorist group - call Homeland Security. Throw a party for all I care just don’t hurt Gwen.”

“What if she’s not there?” Murphy asks.
