That dark thing inside him that scares the shit out of me lurking just beneath the surface.
“Don’t leave this house.”
The second I part my lips to tell him he doesn’t get to order me around, he kisses me again.
Thrusting his tongue into my mouth this time.
His fingers tighten in my hair to keep me from escaping and my entire body feels weak.
My muscles and bones melting as his tongue strokes against mine.
Never have I felt what I’m feeling.
From only a fucking kiss.
It’s as if he’s both destroying me and rebuilding me again.
The waves of pleasure flowing through me touch every cell of my being.
Igniting them and filling me with a heat I didn’t realize I’ve been craving and missing.
When he finally pulls away, I’m not ready for it to be over.
I wantmore.
His eyes even darker and scarier, Jude rasps, “I won’t be long.”
Speechless, I watch him glance down at Abel. Watch his expression immediately soften with tenderness. “Keep an eye on your mom for me.”
Abel babbles back at him.
Having taken advantage of our closeness, he clutches at Jude’s arm.
Jude gently pries Abel’s little fingers off him, gives his hand a quick kiss, and walks past me.
I spin to watch him walk over to the dining area. Grabbing his jacket off the back of a chair, he slips it on.
Then he grabs his gun off the table, checks it, and slips it into the holster on his hip.
Turning back to me, his eyes run over me from head to toe. Scorching me with more heat.
And promise.
Promise of all the things he’d love to do to me.
Seeing him in his suit without a shirt, all his tattoos and muscles on full display, once again makes my knees feel weak.
Until he says, “You should start packing while I’m gone.”
Irritation quickly extinguishes the heat and I frown at him.
Grinning mischievously, as if he likes annoying me, he walks up to the front door. “Lock the door behind me.”
Then he’s gone. The door clicking firmly behind him.
Rushing up to the door, I quickly lock it.
Not that I believe for one second it will stop him from getting back in.
