“I can’t believe I missed out on all the excitement,” I say sadly.
“Sare Bear, be glad you missed out. When I saw that head crowning, it was lights out for me, and thank goodness because I probably would have puked if I saw all that stuff come out with the baby.”
“You mean the placenta?” Kiki arches an eyebrow.
“Don’t go allDr. Quinn Medicine Womanon me now because you deliveredonebaby, Kinky.”
“Uncle Coco, can I see the babies?” Wyatt asks Connor.
“Of course, little man.” Connor wheels the stroller around so Wyatt is at eye level with Cara and Rilee. “Mama, are these my cousins?”
“Yes, they are.” I smile proudly at Wyatt. He’s changed so much in the past few months. He’s curious now instead of afraid. Smiling instead of crying.
“Here, Cara, this is Benji. He’s your cousin too.” Wyatt angles BB-2 to kiss Cara’s forehead. TJ swoops in and picks up Wyatt, while Connor swiftly maneuvers the stroller away, a stricken look on his face.
“Whoa there, little buddy. I’m not sure your cousins are prepared to meet your voodoo doll yet. They’re sleeping right now and if Benji cries, it might wake them up.”
Kiki giggles. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen TJ move that fast.”
Wyatt nods his head sagely and then sticks BB-2 in TJ’s face. “He wants a kiss from Uncle TJ.”
TJ rears his head back, his eyes panicked. “I’m gonna pass, buddy.”
“Please, Uncle TJ?”
“Yeah, Uncle TJ, kiss the doll,” Kiki prods.
“You’re dead to me, both of you.” He points to me and Kiki before screwing his eyes tight and quickly kissing BB-2’s head. He puts Wyatt down and wipes his mouth on his sleeve. “Probably cursed now.”
Cam appears from around the corner, holding Charleigh.
“Daddy!” Enzo runs over and flings himself against him.
“Hey buddy, Mommy’s been asking to see you. Ready to go meet your baby brother?”
“Yes! He can fight bad guys with me.”
“Yeah, bud, he can. Hey guys, thanks for waiting. Ready to meet baby Cam?”
“Yes!” we all cheer.
“I’ll wait out here with the kids,” Connor says. Cam looks like he’s going to argue, but then takes a look at BB-2 and grimaces.
“I think that’s wise.”
“Don’t you guys think you’re being a wee bit dramatic? It’s a doll.” I laugh.
“Sare Bear, I’m pretty sure it moved by itself to that other chair. Connor, keep an eye on that thing. Don’t let it get near the twins.”
Connor nods and guides the stroller with Charleigh and Wyatt over to the waiting room chairs.
We walk into Andie’s room and she looks up from the hospital bed, looking tired, but elated. We all wash our hands and gather around her. Enzo climbs up next to his mom.
“Hey guys. Meet Cameron Thomas Forbes.”
“I’m so honored he has my middle name.” TJ leans in and kisses Andie’s cheek. “Are you going to call him CT? Because that might sound weird. It reminds me of a CT scan or ET the alien. Oh my gosh, wouldn’t it be cute to ask him to phone home?”
Cam clears his throat. “Just Cameron.”
