My fingers loosened on his lapels, and I leaned my forearms back onto the dresser as my heart drummed mercilessly in my chest.

Viper slid out and then scooped me off the dresser, carting me into the bathroom. He set me down and I stood on wobbly legs.

The insides of my thighs were wet and that’s when I realized that Viper had come inside of me without protection.

My breath hitched.

“Did I hurt you?” he asked, his hands tugging on the tank top that I hadn’t shucked. He didn’t wait for an answer as he turned my body for his examination. He palmed the curve of my ass cheek.

“You might be bruised tomorrow.” He gently stroked my skin, silently apologizing for the roughness we’d both wanted.

“That’s not my concern,” I said quietly. I slid my fingers between my legs and held the evidence of his release up to him.

He looked at it and then at me. “No condom.”

“No condom.” I swallowed. “I’m on birth control, but…”

“But I lost my cool.” He sighed. “Fuck, Sutton. I didn’t even think about it, and then I was inside you raw, and it was the best thing I’ve ever felt.”

“Yeah.” I lowered my hand and curled my fingers into a fist. “It was pretty amazing for me too.”

I suddenly collapsed onto the closed toilet seat.

Viper tucked himself back into his jeans and then crouched down in front of me. He placed his hands on my thighs and gripped them.

“Look at me,” he commanded.

I lifted my gaze to his.

“I’m sorry,” he said. “If I’d been thinking—”

“IfI’dbeen thinking,” I interrupted. “It takes two, yeah?”

“It’s my responsibility to protect you,” he said gruffly. “In all ways.”

My insides melted. “Still,” I began.

“No, let me get this out. Okay?”

I nodded.

“I haven’t…been with anyone. Since before I went to prison.”

I frowned. “Well, what about when you got out?”

“You.”

“Me?”

“I’ve only been with you, Sutton.”

“But you were in prison five years!”

The corner of his mouth flickered. “Which was why it was so hard not to maul you.”

I reached out and cradled his cheek. “That didn’t work out too well for you. Thank God for that. You’re dynamite in the sack.”

He finally cracked a smile, but it dimmed almost immediately. “I just wanted you to know that I don’t usually lose my head like this. That I’ve always taken precaution…until now. I’m clean, Sutton.”
