“Pass me that Kahlúa,” I stated. “Viper’s sick now too.”

Darcy poured a bit into a coffee mug and held up the bottle in Rach’s direction. She shook her head and dug into her soup.

Mia ascended the stairs from the theater room, carting a laundry basket. “I’m finally caught up.”

“My turn,” Darcy said with a sigh. “But I’m taking the Kahlúa with me.”

“I think the washer is on its last leg,” Mia said. “It’s gotten more of a workout in the last two weeks than in the last year.”

“What, bikers don’t do their own laundry?” I asked in amusement.

“Not usually. There’s a clubhouse cleaning crew. We’ve gotten spoiled.”

“We pay them well enough that we don’t have to do much other than cook and a few dishes. It’s totally worth it,” Rach said. She got up off her stool and went to load the dishwasher, but it was already full of clean dishes.

“Damn it,” she muttered.

“Go,” I stated. “I’ll take care of it.”

“You don’t mind?” Rach asked.

I shook my head. “Viper is still asleep. I got this.”

“You’re a godsend. I’d hug you, but I’m disgusting,” Rach said.

“Enjoy that shower. I think you’ve earned it.” I winked.

She left the living room and headed for the stairs. Mia put down the laundry basket.

“I’ll help you clean up,” she said.

“Thanks. So, what are you going to do with the bar?”

“What do you mean?” Mia unloaded the silverware.

“I mean, are you going to reopen it? Close it? What?”

“We’ll probably reopen.”

“Are you worried about the reputation being damaged?”

“A little. But frankly there’s nothing I can do about it. I guess we’ll see how it turns out.”

My phone buzzed in my back pocket, and I reached in to read the text.

Viper

Mind bringing me some ginger ale?

“Hey, do you mind finishing up?” I asked her. “Viper’s awake.”

“Go,” she said. “There’s not much more to do.”

I grabbed a bottle of ginger ale from the fridge. I went to our room and quietly entered.

He wasn’t in bed.

A moment later, I heard the toilet flush and then the bathroom door open. He was pale and looked like he was in danger of falling over.
