“Fuck yeah.”
I quickly stripped out of my clothes, and then helped Viper remove his boxers. We padded naked to the bathroom where I started the shower.
“How hot do you want it?” I asked.
“Hot.”
I nodded and pulled the shower curtain back. Viper stepped into the tub, and I climbed in behind him. After he doused himself, I grabbed the soap and made a lather. I washed his skin, my touch tender as I tried not to hurt him.
“I lied,” he said as he stepped back under the spray.
“About what?”
“I could get used to you taking care of me.” He cradled my cheek in his hand and forced me to look into his eyes.
They were warm with emotion, dark with longing.
“You said not to say it until I came back,” he said.
“I remember.”
“I’m going to say it now.”
“Okay.” I nodded.
He paused for a moment and then lowered his lips to mine. His kiss was tender, passionate, and it made me ache. “I love you, Sutton.”
I let out a breathy sigh. “I know.”
He reached around to pinch my ass.
I grinned. “I warned you, didn’t I?”
“About what?”
“That you were going to fall in love with me.”
“You did.” He smiled slightly.
I sniggered and grabbed the shampoo bottle and squirted it into the palm of my hand. I ran my fingers through his hair and massaged his scalp.
“Viper?”
His eyes were closed when he mumbled, “Yeah?”
I smiled even though he couldn’t see me. “I love you, too.”

Voicesin the hallway infiltrated my cocoon of sleep and I opened my eyes. Viper was on his back, staring at the ceiling. He made no move to get up.
“How long have you been awake?” I asked, covering my mouth to stifle a yawn.
“Twenty minutes, maybe. I gotta piss, but my ribs hurt and I don’t want to get up.”
“What’s going on down there?”
“No idea.” With a sigh and a grimace, he finally forced himself to sit up. While he was in the bathroom, I climbed out of bed and put on some real clothes and then I fished around in Viper’s dresser.
