But as I slipped into a pair of flip-flops, my gaze landed on the taped note on the door.

“I’ll be back. Don’t leave the room.”

The man was utterly delusional.

I ripped open the door and stuck my head out into the hallway. I heard nothing, not even the music that had been playing earlier in the afternoon.

The clubhouse living room was completely deserted, but I heard laughter and conversation coming from the other end of the hallway. I followed the sound, pushed open the screen door, and went outside. A bonfire had been lit. Bikers were sitting on logs and camp chairs, holding bottles of liquor and cups. Women perched on their laps or sat in front of them.

Some people were getting handsy and kissing, but I saw no orgies.

“Sutton!” Savage called out.

Heads swiveled in my direction, curious gazes sweeping over me.

“Come here,” Savage stated, patting the seat on the log next to him.

I hastily looked around but still didn’t see Viper.

“Where have you been?” he demanded.

“In my room,” I said. “With Viper.”

“Oh, really,” he drawled.

I rolled my eyes at his suggestive tone. “Get a grip. Nothing happened. Well, not nothing happened. I thought I could go toe to toe with him when it came to drinking bourbon. Even on a full stomach I ended up taking an afternoon nap.”

“I still don’t understand why you and Viper were in the same room together, locked away, when you both could’ve been at a party. There’s only one reason to ditch out of a party, and if you two weren’t playing explorer with your genitals, then I don’t get it.”

“You’re vile,” I retorted.

“But I’m not wrong. Why were you guys holed up together if you weren’t fucking?”

“That’s none of your beeswax.”

He handed me the bottle of bourbon he was holding. “You’re grouchy. Either you’re hungover from your bout of day drinking, or you’re mad that you weren’t getting up close and personal with Viper’s dick. Bourbon will help with either scenario.”

With a glare, I took his bottle and drank.

“Have you seen Viper?” I asked.

“Not for a few hours. Though, now I get why he was MIA.”

Savage wasn’t wrong, and I was more annoyed about it than I should’ve been. “He left a note on my door that said not to leave my room and he’d be back soon. Clearly, I ignored him.”

“Clearly,” he agreed.

I handed him back the bottle. “I’m a little bit surprised.”

“About what?”

“The party,” I explained, pitching my voice lower.

“Why are you surprised about the party?”

“There’s no orgy going on,” I blurted out.

Savage raised his brows. “I can’t tell if you’re upset or relieved.”
