I grinned.

He grasped the back of my neck and pulled me to him.

“Next time, do you think you could knock? Give me a little heads-up?”

Viper paused. “I scared you.”

“Scare is too strong a word. But yeah, you gave me a little heart jump.”

“Sorry about that,” he said, his tone low and soft.

“The orgasm was a good apology. You’re forgiven.”

He cracked a smile.

“You were gone a few hours. Was it a good ride?” I asked, handing him the soap.

“Hmm.”

“Was that a yes or a no?” I demanded.

He began to wash, and I was momentarily entranced by his glistening skin.

“It was…enlightening.”

“What was enlightening?”

“Just had some thoughts that needed to be put in their place. And they’re now put in their place.” He stepped underneath the warm spray and washed off the soap.

“Are you gonna share those thoughts with me?” I asked.

“Nope.”

I wrinkled my nose at him. “So, you’re not angry with me?”

“Angry? Why would I be angry?”

I reached out and traced a tattoo on his left pectoral. It looked familiar, like I’d seen the design before, but I couldn’t quite place it.

“Because I was teasing you,” I said. “About feelings.”

“I’m not angry.”

I knew nagging him wasn’t going to do anything, so I let it be.

It was probably better that way. The less both of us discussed deeper things like feelings, the better off we’d be.

I got out of the shower and dried off. I’d laid out the clothes I wanted to wear that night to Willa and Duke’s. I slid into a pair of tight, dark jeans and a loose white tank.

Viper came into the bedroom, a towel slung around his waist. How the hell did I want him again after what we’d just done in the shower? He was turning me into a sex maniac. I wasn’t sure I minded.

“You can’t wear that,” Viper said.

“Excuse me?”

“You can’t wear that.”

“Okay, buddy, let’s get something straight. You don’t get to tell me what to wear.”
