But if she believed that this was as good as it was going to get, it was now my job to show her just how spectacular her life could be.
And to start, I was going to return to that list of ideas I had about how I wanted things to go after our first round. But before I had the chance to get started on it, Ellery crawled up my body and brought her lips to mine.
That’s when I took over and started to fulfill my promise to her.
EIGHTEEN
Ellery
“Kane.”
My voice sounded foreign. I suspected it would be like that for a while, considering the sound was so new to me.
It was dripping with lust and desire and desperation.
Then again, I’d been feeling all of those emotions and then some over the last two weeks. I never thought life could be this good.
When Kane had promised to give me everything that Patrick hadn’t, I had legitimately believed there wasn’t anything else he could give me beyond what he already had.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Because for the last two weeks, Kane had been giving me everything I never knew I’d missed out on over the last eight years.
Everything.
Granted, there was likely still a whole lot left for us to experience together, but what we’d already done had been nothing short of magical. He took me on several dates. Actual dates. And he’d done it while still having a mind to my current predicament, making sure that we were discreet with my appearance in public.
Even better than the dates was having Kane cuddle on the couch with me at night after we had dinner. I didn’t think there was anything that could top that, but then he’d hold me as we fell asleep every night.
I’d never experienced this level of intimacy. And the truth was, I never would have wanted it with anyone else besides him. The mere thought of Patrick cuddling with me or holding me after we climbed into bed each night made my stomach turn. I guess I should have been grateful for the fact that he knew as much as I did that what we had was never going to be that, so he didn’t even attempt it.
But now that I’d felt this kind of connection with Kane, I never wanted to live without it. After so many years of feeling so alone and miserable, I didn’t think I could survive losing him or this feeling of closeness.
All that I’d had with him over the last two weeks had been beyond special. The dates and cuddling would have been more than enough to keep me happy for a very long time, but it seemed it still wasn’t enough for Kane. He made a promise to give me everything, and that meant he wasn’t going to settle for just the minimum.
So, when it came to sex, he was the best there was.
Of course, my knowledge and experience in the field was extremely limited, but even without the whole Patrick situation, there was something to be said about Kane’s abilities. Something about the way things were between Kane and me indicated to me that he was unbelievably talented.
And the things he could do with his mouth were legendary.
I’d read plenty of books where the hero had that kind of talent. I always thought it was just fiction.
There was no reason for me to believe anything to the contrary, especially since I didn’t know what it was like. Patrick had never taken care of me like that—not that I believed he would have ever gotten me there, even if he had tried. I’d been made aware that it was my job to please him. He got what he wanted, and that was it.
Not Kane.
It seemed Kane couldn’t do enough to please me. And he always made sure I’d been taken care of at least once, if not twice, before he even considered finding a release for himself. He went above and beyond to satisfy me sexually, just like he was doing now, first thing in the morning.
My hands were threaded through the strands of his hair, and his face was positioned between my legs.
His mouth was doing things I hadn’t known were possible, but they were things I loved all the same.
“Kane, baby,” I whimpered.
Hearing that, Kane groaned.
He kept at me, licking and sucking, while his hands went seeking. They roamed over my body, touching and teasing wherever they could reach.
