The diner itself is ok, not the cleanest but the food is pretty decent. I used to come here as a kid all the time, but I think this is the first time I’ve been here in about three years.

I’m on Flannigan turf. I’ve had dealings with this Clan in the past but less so in the last few years. They are a small Clan who like to keep themselves to themselves. Trying to stay out of trouble as much as they can. They were a larger Clan back when Da was alive but their leader at the time did some shady shit and got most of their men killed, they decided to take the quiet route after that. And we all respected them for it. Helped them when they needed but nobody challenged them, nobody felt the need.

I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket again. The calls and texts are constant, I know they are from my family checking in, wanting to know if I’m ok. But I don’t want to talk to them. I can’t. I know if I let them in, I’ll break and I’m not ready for that. I won’t let that happen, not until I know where she is. So, I ignore them, I never listen to the voicemails knowing hearing their voices will do me no favours, I do scan their messages for any mention of my woman, but I don’t read every word. I know if they have anything concrete and they can’t get hold of me they’ll call Maxim.

“That is him.” I turn to see three men walking through the front door. Looking back at Maxim he indicates to the man at the back. We watch them take a seat at the furthest table at the back of the diner, they smile and chat as the waitress takes their order and then heads back to the counter. I get up and walk over to their table Maxim and his men follow closely behind me. The men look up from their conversation. They pale the moment they see us, the moment they see me. I push the guy sitting solo and take a seat next to him as Maxim and his men stand at the side of the table making sure that none of them can escape. “Harry Flannigan. It’s been a while kid.” I turn to at look him, his eyes dart around the room at his men then at the men with me, I watch him visibly swallow when he realises that there’s no way out.

“I hear you might have some information that I’d be interested in. Care to share?”

He shakes his head, “Killian… I… Please. I don’t know anything.”

Grabbing the back of his neck I slam his face into the table. Blood sprays everywhere as his nose shatters on impact. He cries out in pain, and his friends jump in fright but make no move to help him. His hands cover his nose trying to pointlessly stem the bleeding. “Let’s try that again, shall we? Tell me what you know or the next time I’ll make sure the bones shatter into so many pieces even reconstructive surgery won’t help.”

He sobs into his hands but makes no attempt to tell me anything. Bored of waiting I slam his head into the table again this time knocking him out. I look over at his two friends. “So, gentleman. How do you like your noses?” I smirk as they both squirm then look at one another before taking another look around the room. Realising they don’t have a choice they both start speaking at once. I pull out my gun and point it in the face of the guy right in front of me.

“One at a time.” The one faced with the barrel of my gun looks like he’s about to piss his pants and can’t seem to find his voice.

“We don’t know much. Harry doesn’t tell us everything, but we know he wants to build up the Clan, he wants power like his Uncle used to have. He’s been talking to Liam for months. Harry sent men over to the States this morning. They are there to help with the capture of your women. We don’t know much just that Liam needed some of our men and said they would be back within two weeks.”

I slam the butt of my gun into the face of the quiet kid then turn back to the canary. “Bella. Where is she?”

He shakes his head. “All they said was that she’s no longer in the States. They have her somewhere large enough to house the rest of the women once they have them. I don’t know any more than that I swear.”

I give a chin lift to Maxim, and he pulls out his phone as he walks away to call my brothers to give them a heads up. Turning back my eyes run over the faces of these two kids. I believe him when he says they don’t know any more.

I climb out of my booth then straighten my jacket. Placing my gun into the waistband of my jeans. Looking back over my shoulder at the table, “you’re gonna grab Harry here and head back to the rest of the Clan. You’re gonna need to tell them they just made an enemy of the O’Farrell Syndicate and the Sidorov Bratva.” I watch their faces pale before turning on my heel and heading out the door.

Chapter 30

He’s been gone for twelve days now. Even knowing that the attempt to grab the women was imminent didn’t bring him home. He just had Maxim call us to let us know then took off, looking for another body to bleed.

He thinks we don’t get it. And maybe we don’t, the only one of us who has experienced our woman being taken is Connor. But he got her back within a few days. He understands that initial fear but even he can’t understand the emptiness, the pain or what he’ll be feeling right now.

I understand his darkness though, that need for revenge the need to make people feel pain. The need to see blood run. I know what it’s like to lose yourself to your demon. And I know how he’s going to feel when his demon finally rests.

He may not know it, but I’ve been tracking him since the day he left. Every city, every town, every flight. Fuck, I’ve even tracked every kill he’s made. I need to know it all, because when he comes crashing back down to reality, he’s gonna need one of us to be there without the questions. He’s gonna need one of us to be his rock.

I walk into the office at the club, Finn is at his desk doing whatever shit he does there. I turn my head a little to my left and glare at Seamus on the sofa, the fucker doesn’t flinch just smirks then gives me a wink. I look over at Connor behind his desk tapping away on his laptop. He doesn’t even look up. I raise my eyebrow then walk over to Kill’s desk and take a seat. Lifting my legs to rest my feet on his desk crossing them at the ankle I lean back in the chair.

“Why the fuck are you here?” I look over at Seamus. He shrugs his shoulder and then pulls out his phone.

“The women and children are all at your Ma’s. I have my entire team with them along with the team that you have assigned and some if the guys that Maxim left. And I am here at…”

“My request.” Connor raises his head from the laptop and turns to me. “Vincenzo is in the city. He’s been spotted across in Brooklyn. Grab your shit we’re on our own.” Without waiting for any of us to respond, he closes he laptop then grabs his gun and heads out the door. He’s compartmentalised his emotions, switched himself off to how he feels, he knows he needs to take charge, and this is how he does it. We all jump up and quickly follow him out the back to the car.

Four hours we’ve been chasing fucking ghosts. I don’t know who Connor is getting his information from but each time they’ve been wrong. They claim Vincenzo is somewhere but when we get there, there’s no sign of him. I’m tired and fucking frustrated. We pull up on the next location when my phone vibrates in my pocket. Pulling it out I smile when I see my woman’s name on the screen, then frown when I see the message.

Mo Ghrá

Baby. There’s a delivery at the club. I’m heading over there to take it in.

Me

Absolutely fucking not!

Mo Ghrá

Excuse me? If you hadn’t left those idiots alone there I wouldn’t have to go.
