“Yes?”

He whispered. “Are you recording us?”

Her brows dipped as she frowned. “No. Why would I be recording us?”

Langston inhaled a deep breath. “Don’t look now, but your webcam on the computer across the room is green.”

He kissed her lips, sat Lisa on her feet, and then moved out of view. Quickly Langston strolled across the room, unplugged the computer, and shut it down before returning to her side.

Lisa’s heartpounded as she stared at Langston, unsure of what to say or do next. She had never felt so vulnerable or exposed, and the thought of someone watching their private moment without their permission filled her with dread.

“What do we do now?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Langston grabbed her hand and pulled her close, kissing her knuckles before responding. “Now, I’ll figure out who is doing this and ensure it never happens again.”

“Thank you.” She rubbed her shoulders. “I’m a little shaken now, I can tell you that.”

“That’s understandable. Someone was invading your privacy. Have you never noticed this before?”

Shocked, Lisa stared at Langston. “No, I haven’t. I’m usually pretty diligent about my security and privacy settings.”

Langston nodded. “Let me take a look at your computer. I’ll download a few things that will help me identify the source.

Lisa sighed with relief. “Yes, please,” she said. “I would be forever grateful.”

Without a word, Langston strode to the computer and began tinkering with the settings and updating the security protocols. “Do you have any antivirus protection or firewalls?”

“I have regular antivirus protection. Nothing top-notch.”

“Do you mind if I add it to your computer?”

“By all means; please do.”

Langston’s hands flew across the keyboard, adding multiple passwords for different applications and installing state-of-the-art antivirus protection. His actions were quick and precise and it became obvious to Lisa that Langston had in-depth knowledge of computers and technology.

After a few hours of hard work, Langston concluded his investigation. “Whoever was spying on you put in considerable effort to stay undetected. But it won’t happen again. You’re all set.”

Lisa sighed in relief, feeling grateful for Langston’s quick action. However, she couldn’t shake off the feeling of being watched. It left her feeling violated.

Langston must have noticed the change in her demeanor because he took her hand and led her to the couch.

“Hey,” he said softly. “It’s over now. You don’t have to worry about it anymore.”

Lisa looked at him, appreciating his gentle touch. “Thank you for taking care of it.”

He nodded, his expression serious. “Do you mind if I put a detail on you?”

Her eyes widened. “Security?”

“Yes.”

“You think I need it?” She drew back, her stress even greater now.

“Please, don’t be upset. It’s only precautionary.”

Lisa sighed and sat back against the couch as Langston pulled her into his arms. “Okay, sure. Better to be safe than sorry.”
