A thought crossed her mind just then and her eyes widened as she screamed, “They took your mother!” Bursting into tears again, her body shook with sobs and Langston tried to calm her.

“We have her. It’s okay. She’s okay.”

Tears spilled from them both as he rained kisses down her face, nose, and lips.

“I’m so, so, sorry.” He rubbed his nose in her neck. “I’m so sorry. I love you so much, and this will never happen again.”

She nodded and continued to weep, tightening her arms around his waist as they held each other, overjoyed at their reunion.

Sniffles on the other side of the room brought his attention to Destiny. She rose to her feet and walked timidly towards them. “Langston...” she spoke through her tears. “I...”

“Listen.” He grabbed Lisa’s chin and kissed her forehead. Then he turned, not releasing Lisa, and addressed Destiny. “You’re getting out of here today. I don’t know why they took you, but I’m getting both of you out.”

Destiny opened her mouth to respond.

Langston held up his hand. “Whatever you’re going to say doesn’t matter. All I ask is that you be kind to others with this second chance you have.”

She nodded frantically.

More gunfire echoed behind him.

He spun around, lifted his weapon, and shot at a man coming toward them. Behind the man, Tristan came into view.

“Do you have them?”

“Yes.” Langston glanced at Lisa and Destiny. “Get behind me and stay behind me.”

“Do you have an extra gun?” Lisa asked, wiping her tears off her cheeks.

Langston smirked and kissed her mouth hard. “God, I’ve missed you.”

She gave him a watery smile. “Gun?”

“Your fight is over. Stay behind me.”

Moving quickly, they left the room, footsteps echoing on the concrete as they exited the hideout.

Langston

One Month Later

Heat bloomed between their lips as Langston and Lisa's kiss intensified.

“Hmmmm... I'll never get enough of this,” Lisa murmured.

Langston slipped his hand up her neck, grabbing the back of her head as he deepened the kiss. Sparks of heat permeated their flesh, and their desire for each other rose when the doorbell rang.

“Grrrrrrrr....”

Lisa laughed as Langston released her. “We could make them wait.”

The doorbell rang again, this time repeatedly as if someone held their finger on the button.

“I don't think they're going to let that happen.”

Langston sighed. “I guess you’re right. I'll get it.”
