Moving to my computer, I open my calendar. The meeting with Dalton and Dunn is scheduled for this morning, and I smile, seeing she’s been proactive already.

I reach around to pull out their file, just to get ahead of the meeting when my cell starts ringing. I glance down to see the name ‘Sparkles’ lighting up my screen.

Well, damn!I haven’t had a decent chat with my best friend for a long time. She’s too occupied with Nash, and I’m so busy these days with work.

Life gets in the way.

But when one of us calls the other, we always pick up.

It’s what best friends do.

So I swipe the call and sink back into my seat.

“Brianna, that man of yours giving you the shits? You know, calling to complain about my business partner could be a conflict of interest,” I tease.

She snorts down the line. “It still baffles me that Nash let you buy into his company just to make me happy. How does it feel being his little lap dog?”

I widen my eyes. “Solid burn! How did that feel?” I smirk, loving that she’s still as sassy as ever.

“Honestly? I hated it, I’m sorry. You deserve to be a part of Ensure.”

I laugh, loving that when Brianna tries to insult me, she always has to backtrack. It’s been a thing with us—she can never follow through. Maybe it’s because we’ve been friends for so long. I don’t know, but it’s funny how she always folds. “Oh, Sparkles, you never disappoint. So what’s happening? Everything okay? Haven’t heard from you in a while?”

She sighs down the line. “I know. I’m sorry. It’s just… life has been hectic, you know?”

“I know, I’m just messing with you. We have lives now. Me with work, you with your business, especially with Cam in New York now, you’re doing much more on your own, and you have Nash to contend with. I mean, it’s practically like having a baby in the house, right?”

She’s quiet momentarily, and my stomach begins to churn at the pause. “Brianna… are you and Nash not doing okay? Is that why you called?”

She groans, then starts unloading. “He said for me not to tell anyone and that we’re going to make a big announcement, but Blake, you’re my best friend, and I can’t keep shit from you. I’m literally dying over here to tell you.”

I sit taller, my heart pounding a little, wondering what the fuck she’s hiding from me. “Brianna, tell me.”

“I’m pregnant!”

I stand abruptly. My chair rolls back and hits the wall while excitement rushes through me as I let out a loud cheer. “Hooolllyshit!” I scream and throw my fist into the air.

“Blake, shh… I don’t want everyone in the office to know,” Brianna warns, and I instantly glance over to Zoey, who is, in fact, watching me intently as I pace my office.

I smile but focus my attention back on Brianna. “How long have you known? Fuck, Bri, I am so damn happy for you guys. I’m going to be an uncle. Well, one of those guys you call your uncle even though you’re not related. Dammit, Sparkles, this is thebestnews.”

She giggles down the line. “Youcan’ttell Nash that you know, though. He wants to do a big reveal party at Revel Rose to tell the whole gang.”

I snort. “Of course he does. Okay, secret’s safe with me.” I walk back over to my chair and flop into it, feeling on top of the world.

“Blake?” she murmurs, and I spin around in my chair, smiling wide.

“Mm-hmm…”

“Nash said something to me about you fake dating Zoey. What’s that about?”

I stop spinning, my eyes landing directly on Zoey as she works, and my stomach flips thinking about our situation. “It’s complicated.”

“Do you like her?”

Scrubbing at my face, I don’t want to lie. Brianna knows me so well anyway she would be able to tell, even through the phone. “I don’t know. Like I said… complicated.”

Brianna sighs. “Because technically, you’re her boss, and Nash is adamant about no office relationships?”
