I chuckled, imagining a young Ivor running full speed through the forest. "Your secret is safe with me," I said, scooping up a few cherries. The tart flavor made my lips purse.

"You don't like them?"

"I prefer them fresh." I chewed, scrunching up my nose at the sharp taste.

His eyes lingered on my mouth, his lips parting as he watched me eat. Feeling a little self-conscious, I licked my lips, hoping I wasn't being messy. He instantly stood, making the dishes on the tray clink.

"What's wrong?" I asked, worried I had done something that displeased him.

"You must be freezing." His tone was as stiff as his posture. He picked up the bundle of wood off the floor and walked quickly across the room to the fireplace. My wolf whimpered, hating the sudden change in his demeanor.

I ate, not caring what, while I watched him work. Ivor's biceps bulged, and his abs flexed as he arranged the wood just so. My body felt as if it was buzzing just watching him move. It made me squirm, my belly growing warm. Ivor's hair swung into his eyes, brushing the bump on his nose.

That long nose…I wondered what it might feel like brushing up against my clit.

"Mina?"

I jerked, letting out a horrible squeak at the sound of my name. Blushing as if caught doing something naughty, I struggled to speak. "Y-yes?" My voice was much breathier than it should have been for someone holding a chunk of dried deer meat in her fist.

"The matches." He pointed to the table next to the bed. I grabbed the small box and tossed them to him before burrowing back into the thick blankets. He was right. It was freezing.

Ivor sparked a fire, poking and coaxing it until it blazed properly. But I still shivered, the small fire not doing much to warm the room just yet.

"I'll sleep on the floor," he said, reaching for a small pillow at the end of the bed. I instantly bared my teeth and growled, my wolf not happy the alpha would so casually ruin my nest. He froze, his hand hovering just over the pillow.

"Not that one," I said, trying to calm my overwhelming sense of panic.

He took a careful step back, and my distress grew. The indescribable need to have him closer made my skin itch. "Please." I took a slow breath, trying to push down the urge to cry. "I know it's not appropriate, but can you sleep next to me? In my nest?" I shivered, my nose and toes like ice.

He squeezed his fists tight, his eyes sweeping around the room. I understood his apprehension. Unmated alphas and omegas were kept apart for a reason, but I was so cold, and his scent felt so right soaked into the blankets around me.

"Mina." His voice was gruff. "I can't—"

"Please, alpha," I whispered once more. I knew what I was asking for was dangerous. Ivor could fall to his baser instincts and possibly try to take me, but I trusted him. My wolf trusted him. He wouldn't hurt me.

Finally, Ivor let out a long sigh and nodded. He set the tray on the side table and crawled in next to me. I tucked the blanket tightly around my shoulders, lying down beside him. I faced the window, careful not to touch the alpha, even though I desperately wanted to. The heat from his big body warmed my back, and I hummed.

The wind howled and beat at the windowpane, the sound making my teeth chatter. Ivor let out a soft groan, then wrapped his big arm around my middle, pulling my back flush with his chest. "You're going to freeze," he whispered in my ear, curling himself around me and bending my legs up with his. I wiggled back a bit, but a firm hand gripped my hip, stopping me.

"Don't," he commanded.

My face burned as I realized his member was pressed hard against my bottom. I should have moved away, but I didn't want to. In fact, I wanted to be even closer. I wanted to rip the blanket off, crawl into his lap, lick every inch of his perfect body, then demand he do the same to me.

I squeezed my eyes shut, realizing it only took one simple storm to turn me into a full-on tramp.

Ivor's warm scent filled my nest, and I slowly relaxed against him.

Before I knew it, I fell asleep.

* * *

A crackof thunder jerked me awake.

I yipped, confused and scared.

Where was I?

"It's okay," Ivor's deep voice whispered in my ear. His breath fanned against the back of my neck. Goosebumps flashed, and I suddenly realized the blanket that had separated us was gone. My thin dress was the only barrier between me and his tempting abs. "It's just thundersnow. It'll pass soon."
