The storm continuedto rage all night and into the morning. Even as the sun rose, the sky remained a dark gray, keeping the bedroom dim and cozy—only the crackling fire provided any real light.

Mina slept peacefully curled against my side. Her dress was still around her middle, and I cursed myself for not ripping her undergarments clean off her sweet body last night. I wanted to see the delicate curve of her sweet cunt again.

She grumbled in her sleep, rubbing her face over my chest. Her lips were puckered, and her brows pulled together slightly. Whatever she was dreaming about, she didn't seem happy.

Was she dreaming about last night? Was she upset about it?

Slipping my hand into my pocket, I pulled out the small embroidered fabric Mina had gifted me. The color of the rose and its leaves were so vibrant. I never really cared for flowers before, but looking at Mina's perfect design, I wondered how I didn't realize how lovely they were.

Guilt built in my chest as I thought of how I had acted last night.

The way I touched and defiled Mina.

I acted like a rogue, ruining an honorable omega that deserved to be cherished and courted. As shameful as it was, I let my instincts take over. My beast needed to feel her, fuck her, make every inch of her perfect body smell like me. The urge to imprint on her was so intense I almost lost myself completely and rutted her right into the sheets.

"What's wrong?" Mina asked, her voice rough with sleep.

"Nothing." I forced a smile, noticing how flushed she was.

She pressed the lines between my eyes. "You're frowning."

"You were frowning first." She tilted her head in confusion. "In your sleep. Were you having a bad dream?"

Not answering me, Mina turned to look out the window behind her. The snow continued to fall, slapping the windowpane hard. "Do you think my mom is okay?" She looked at me with big, glassy eyes.

"I'm sure of it." I pulled her a little closer. Her curves fit so perfectly against me. So small and soft.

"But you said Nix took Summer home. What if he got stuck and—"

"Mina," I said firmly, gripping her chin and forcing her to look at me. "You will not fuss about this. Nix would never leave your mother to fend for herself. I've grown to know him very well in the last year, and he's incredibly protective of you two."

She nodded, lowering her lashes to hide the tears threatening to fall.

I kissed her temple, wanting more than anything to kiss her pink lips, but she was too distressed right now. "If I thought for one moment your mother was truly alone, I'd fight that storm all the way to your front door to check on her."

Mina glanced up at me, smiling through watery eyes. "Thank you. I know she's okay," she sighed hard, "I just worry."

"Stay in bed." I pushed my nose into her hair, pulling in her intensely sweet scent. Her vanilla aroma was even stronger than last night. So sweet it made my teeth hurt. "I'll bring you something to eat."

"Actually, I'd like to go downstairs." She pulled away from me, sitting up. Her dark hair was messy, with thick waves framing her face and cascading down her back. She looked wild and flushed. I loved it.

"I didn't get a good look last night," she said, "and I'd like to see how bad the damage is."

I shook my head. "That's not a good idea. There's glass everywhere, and—"

"The second you go downstairs, I'm just going to follow you." She tipped her chin up, determination clear in her gorgeous brown eyes.

I was speechless for a moment. The tiny omega had more fire than I expected, and it was downright sexy. I licked my lips and smoothed my hand down the length of her back. "Mina," I said softly, ready to fight the little beast if needed. "You will stay here, and—"

"No, sir," she said so sweetly, despite the disobedience of her words. "Our pack has worked tirelessly to get ready for the festival. I understand it won't be happening today or even this week if things are really bad, but once the storm clears, we will celebrate. I want to save what I can of our pack's offerings. All our hard work is going to blow away…and I don't…" She paused. Her chin quivered, and she pulled in a deep breath, forcing herself to calm down. "It's important to me."

Looking down at her tiny form, I took in her exposed thighs and bare feet. "You are in a short, thin dress. You will freeze."

Mina crossed her arms, but her energy wasn't angry. She still looked soft and sweet, just resolved, like there was nothing I could say to sway her. I suppressed the urge to smile, wondering just how many fights she was able to win with her quiet determination.

"You will sit on the staircase and not move an inch from where I place you." I looked deep into her eyes, pleased when they sparkled back at me.

"Yes, alpha." She smiled, biting that plump bottom lip. It took everything in me not to suck it out of her mouth.
