Wizard looked toward the men standing to the side. “Buck, Jesus, take him home.” Wizard waved them away.

“Blue.” His expression went back to grim. “I better not catch your ass within a five-mile radius of this clubhouse again until you can sign Dr. in front of your name. Get what I’m telling you?”

“Yes, sir, I do.”

“Good. Then get the fuck out of my club.”

Doom handed Blue his backpack, hiding his smile until the brothers and the kid had left.

Wizard used the wheels on the office chair to swivel in his direction. “Damn, I need another drink. I’m not used to being so nice.”

Doom couldn’t hold back his laughter any longer. “For a second, I thought you were going to burp him.”

Wizard made a face. “It would be nice to have a doctor on call to stitch us up and dig the bullets out.”

“Yes, it would,” Doom agreed.

Wizard’s expression grew more serious. “So, what are we going to do about the sister’s offer?”

CHAPTER 8

THE MILK

“Let’s play her game.” Resting his hip on the side of Wizard’s desk, Doom gave him a cunning smile. “It could be fun.”

Wizard rolled his eyes at him. “Or not. You still pissed at her for questioning The Last Riders’ intelligence?”

“You’re not?”

Wizard gave him a smug smile. “According to her, I’m the smartest one here.”

Deadpan, Doom stared back at him.

“Jeez, Doom. Give it a break. She apologized. I’m good with her.”

Doom shrugged. “I’m not pissed.”

“You look pissed. But what do I know? You have the same expression on your face all the time. I’ll leave it to you. I really don’t give a fuck.”

He didn’t believe that for a millisecond. “Then why didn’t you tell her no?”

“I was too busy admiring her acting ability. If she had bigger tits, she would make a hell of an actress.”

“Her tits were fine.”

“Too small for my taste.” Wizard shrugged.

“Which is why I have better taste in women. Your problem is, you always judge a vase by the handles.”

“And how is that a problem for me?”

“Not for you,” Doom agreed with him. “For the rest of us, it gets boring.”

“You didn’t seem bored last night when we were fucking Celeste.”

“I’m just saying, it might be nice to have a change of pace. One that wouldn’t give me a fucking concussion when she comes.”

Wizard tiredly rubbed the back of his neck. Standing, he stretched his back. “Do what you want to do. You might be right; it could be fun. I needed to find someone to replace Siren, anyway. You can give whatever-her-name-is Siren’s schedule.”

“Her name is Arden,” Doom informed him.

Wizard glanced at his watch. “Don’t care.”

“I thought Celeste wanted Siren’s schedule?”

“She does, but those are the times when Blue’s sister can work. Besides, I prefer Celeste more on her back than working behind the bar.” Wizard rubbed his neck again. “I need to put in a couple hours at the warehouse. When Celeste gets her ass out of bed, you can break the bad news to her.”

“Fuck no! You do it.”

Wizard smacked him on the shoulder. “That’s why I made you Sergeant at Arms. Puck sucked at doing the dirty work while you excel at breaking hearts.”

From the way he raised his brow at him, Doom could tell Wizard didn’t want to argue with him. Arguing with Wizard was a wasted effort, anyway. It was his way or the highway. Both he and Viper had that same infuriating trait.

Seeing he wasn’t going to get the argument he was waiting for, Wizard started to leave.

“Who are you going to pick for your enforcer?”

Wizard turned back to face Puck, his good humor vanishing.

“Don’t give me that look. You made your bed, now lie in it,” Wizard snapped harshly. “Call Burn and tell him to come to the warehouse in thirty minutes. I’m going to give the rank to him.”

Both he and Puck gave Wizard the same surprised look.

“He’ll tell you no.”

“He’ll try.” Wizard nodded. “In that case, he can hand over his jacket, bike, and pay the money back he owes the club. I’m tired of pampering him. Burn isn’t the only one who Taylor fucked over. Rider tried to warn him about that bitch, and so did I. He’s had long enough to get his head out of his ass.” Wizard shook his head. “I went by his house a couple of days ago, and he was waiting there for Taylor to drop his kid off. She never showed. Taylor only lets Burn see him every other Sunday while she’s draining him dry.”

Doom shook his head. “He has a custody hearing on Monday, to increase his visitation. He won’t jeopardize losing—”

“He’s had two hearings already. Nothing is going to change with this one.” Wizard gave him a rueful look. “His chance of getting more visitation is between little or none. Meanwhile, he’s draining himself dry paying for lawyers that aren’t getting results done, and forking cash over every fucking time Taylor says she needs it for his kid while she’s using it to buy a penthouse in Louisville.”
