“Down, Rox,” V says.

She holds her hands up in surrender.

“New collar?” I ask, noticing the delicate silver choker around Roxy’s neck.

V answers for her. “One of my new members does custom work.”

“It’s stunning,” I say, unable to stop myself from picturing fastening the same collar around Kyra’s neck.

I revel in the feel of her body up against mine, letting myself have this moment, knowing I’m going to leave her later.

Roxy cocks her head, her eyes flitting to my hands on Kyra’s waist. She looks up, running her index finger along her collar with a dangerously perceptive look.

V breaks her focus. “Will you close tonight?” she asks Roxy. “And make sure everyone leaves at a reasonable hour?”

“We’re doing inventory, so I’ll tell them to sleep in. We’ll do lunch by you at two.”

V nods as Roxy walks off and I have to muffle my laugh when Kyra chokes at the sight of her thong-clad ass.

Diego drives the three of us to Caligo, V’s apartment building. Kyra sits quietly next to me as V and I make small talk, catching up on the last few weeks. We all climb out ten minutes later, and I grab the Louboutin box, knowing Diego’s put Kyra’s slippers inside.

Despite the late hour, V has the receptionist enter Kyra’s fingerprint into the system, giving her biometric access to the penthouse along with a linked key card.

“You only need the key card for the elevator,” V says to Kyra. “But you need both to enter our suite.”

“Our?” Kyra asks incredulously.

V smiles. “For however long you decide to stay. Come on.”

She leads the way to the elevator and Kyra’s hand finds mine as we step in.

“The building is air-gapped,” V continues as we ascend to the penthouse. “I’m not a huge fan of electronic devices, but I won’t stop you from bringing them into the apartment. You won’t have access to Wi-Fi, obviously,” she adds, elaborating on her earlier term. “But there are secure one-way landlines in every room if you need to call someone.”

Kyra doesn’t comment on V’s extensive security measures, focusing instead on the devices comment. “I don’t have much of anything,” she admits bleakly. “So that won’t be a problem.”

“Whatever you need, I’ll get for you,” I say, spotting V smirking at my words.

“Anything you need before then, you’re welcome to borrow,” she adds.

“Thank you, V, you’re being far too kind to a stranger.”

“Something tells me I can trust you, Kyra,” she says as we step out of the elevator into a long corridor. “And you can call me Sutton outside of the club. V is just a…nickname.”

“Thank you, Sutton,” Kyra repeats.

Sutton smiles in response, opening her sturdy door on the left with her fingerprint and key card. She pushes the door open and gestures us inside.

“Welcome home.” She rests a hand on Kyra’s shoulder. “I’m going to head to bed, but Leo will show you around,” she winks at me. “Feel free to sleep in. After late nights we usually do a family style brunch here, and you’re welcome to join since you’re our newest employee.”

“You eat with your employees often?” Kyra asks.

“We share a meal almost every day. Everyone who works at Versus and Verus lives in this building.”

Kyra’s eyes widen.

“But it’s only the Verus family that join us up here. And you’re a part of that family now.”

Kyra nods, her eyes tearing up.
