He could take the reins. I still knew how to work him up. I knew how much my reactions affected him. He seemed like he couldn’t decide if he wanted to strangle me or kiss me.

It was amazing.

I was going to have him. Gabriele be damned.

I always got what I wanted, and this time was no exception.

“Want to go for a smoke?” a pleasant voice asked.

At that moment, I realized I was still looking at the doors to the patio with my “in love” expression. I mean, how could I not? The guy was the sole owner of my heart from this point on. He was what I waited for my whole life. My one true love.

Only when his huge form disappeared with my brother and Salvatore Vasile, I could turn to the owner of the voice. I was not shy at all. I want all world to know that he was mine from the moment I laid eyes on him.

I came face to face with Mia Vasile. She was pressing her lips together to keep her smile in no doubt because of my admiring gaze towards Antonio.

Also, damn, how hot was that name?

“I don’t smoke,” I answered. “But I’ll join you.” She was Antonio’s sister. Family ties were important. I had to play my cards right to get to Antonio. Getting to know Mia was a good step in my game.

She nodded and started walking towards the garden. I knew I was not going to see Antonio. They were probably away from the gate talking some business. It was boring, but I would listen to it just so I could see Antonio more.

I was going to see him again, though. No need to worry. We were going to be here for a little bit more, hopefully for a few days.

When we were out of the door, Mia leaned into a wall and took out a cigarette pack from her tiny purse. She was wearing a sequined dark blue dress, and in the faint light, she looked like a mermaid. She was extremely beautiful.

Maybe it was genetic?

Mia lit up her cigarette and held out the pack to me. I again declined, and she put them back into her purse with a shrug. “Are you enjoying the party?”

“I am,” I answered truthfully.

Mia’s blue eyes narrowed playfully. “Am I not a good enough company?”

I laughed and realized I was still tense from my dance with Antonio. I was too focused on all the thoughts swimming inside my head. I shook my head, trying to get back my easygoing spirit. “Of course, you are. I just like dancing.”

A knowing look passed her face. Did she see us dancing? “I could tell.” She took another drag from her cigarette. “Are you married, Priscilla?”

I couldn’t help but smile. Everybody was so curious. Well, this was probably good for me. “I am not. I am not promised either.” Gabriele would prefer for me to go to a nunnery, actually. He didn’t trust any man around me.

Least of all, Antonio Mazzoni.

“Interesting,” she murmured. “Girls usually get married between eighteen and twenty.”

I shrugged. “Well, I am not yet twenty.” Some sarcasm touched my voice as I crisscrossed my fingers in the air. “Fingers crossed.”

We both laughed, but Mia still had that knowing look on her face. Her brain was working so hard, and I could also tell she was a little stunned by the situation. “It is really weird how life works.”

“I don’t think so. It gives you what you wish for. All you have to do is take it.”

“Talked like a man,” she laughed. Women in our circles were not always this bold, but it was also not non-existent.

Mia looked like a bold woman to me.

I wanted to test that. “It is usually only talk for men. They are just easy to play with.”

She pursed her lips and nodded. “True. They might think they want something, and at the end of the day, it was just what we wanted all along. We can hold control silently.”

“Exactly,” I answered with a glimmer in my eyes. Antonio Mazzoni could only plan on looking at me or having sex with me, but at the end of the day, we were going to have what I wanted. I was going to have him forever.
