Fuck his orders. I didn’t want to go back. Luckily, I knew Dario was easy to manipulate. I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached for the door handle. “If you go back, I’ll jump.”

His eyes widened with horror. “Sir, she says she will jump.”

“I am not bluffing,” I shouted to the phone even though Antonio could so very easily tell I was bluffing. I was not risking my baby’s life.

“He wants to talk to you,” Dario said, still looking horrified. He really believed that I was going to jump.

“I don’t want to talk to him!” I shouted loud enough that Antonio could hear it from the other side.

Then Dario took the phone away from his ear and put it on speaker, no doubt on Antonio’s request.

“Priscilla,” he started, but I cut him off, saying I didn’t want to talk to him. His voice was like honey, and I didn’t want it to affect me. I just wanted to throw a fit without losing my will.

I wanted to have a fight for once so we could actually solve our problems.

“We are having this fight, Antonio. This time you can’t get out of it with sex.” Dario looked too damn uncomfortable because of my boldness, and I rolled my eyes. “We are married, Dario. We do fuck. It is normal.”

“Priscilla,” Antonio said again. “Please, talk to me.”

Surprise washed over me, and I could see the same thing happened to Dario. Antonio never had a stupid pride about saying please, but it was always in private. It was a big thing for a man like him to say please in the presence of his soldier.

That made me take him out of speaker and put the phone on my ear. “What do you want?”

“Come back,” he said with a pleading voice. “If you want, we can fight. You can shout at me and hit me, but please come back.”

My throat tightened. “I don’t want to,” I whispered.

“Why?”

“I don’t want to hurt you more. I am angry.”

A soft sound came from his throat, and I could practically see him shaking his head. “Your absence hurts me more.”

“I just need time. I am sorry for acting so harsh. I don’t want to have a fight like that. I don’t want to be mean. I just need time to calm down. Please give me that.”

Antonio took a deep breath. “Okay. But please go to Mia’s. I need to know you are somewhere safe. I know Dario is with you, but I can’t stop remembering how I found you in that forest.”

“Don’t think about that,” I murmured. I wanted to forget, and I wanted him to forget. I didn’t want us to remember that pain.

“I can’t go through that again, Priscilla. I can’t fail you,” He sounded so miserable.

“You didn’t fail me,” I whispered, trying to have a private moment with Dario right next to me.

“Go to Mia’s,” he said again. At this point, I knew he could convince me to go back home, but he didn’t. It was the best for both of us. We needed time. We needed to learn to solve our problems.

But I also couldn’t go to Mia’s. “Salvatore will kill me.”

A growl came from his side. “He has to kill me first.”

“No one can kill you,” I said, believing it with my own chest. He very well might be immortal.

“Then no one can kill you.”

ThatI didn’t believe but when Antonio again asked me to go to Mia’s I accepted. I trusted him to protect me from Salvatore. I trusted him in every way.

I just hoped it was the same for him, and that shit he asked me meant nothing.
