We didn’t have time to question Michele because he died too fast. Gabriele was able to question his supporters, though. He acted so swiftly. We came to learn that Michele was telling everybody their younger brother Gioele was his heir, and it was a better choice than Adrian, who was half Russian.

Thankfully Gabriele was able to fix the problem fast. He cleared out the traitors successfully. Roberto was at his side always, and we sent out Alessio to help them. It was a success.

The pain remained, but we worked hard to treat our wounds. We tried to focus on the good. Priscilla and our baby were okay, and even Dario got out alive.

Being alive and in love and waiting for a baby made it easier. I didn’t let Priscilla bury her worries this time, but she rarely got anxious over the memories.

Growing new life in her body actually helped her.

Roberto and Beatrice got it the worst.

Michele also planned to attack Roberto since he was Gabriele’s consigliere, and they were a strong unit. He planned a car crash, but Roberto gave his car to his wife and son that day. Beatrice and little Leo got into that car crash.

Even thinking of myself in Roberto’s position made my throat tighten.

My eyes went to the chair where Beatrice was sitting with her baby, and then I looked at Roberto. He was watching her with a strange look. There were so many emotions that I was not able to recognize all of them.

It was obvious that he was grateful that she made it, but she also lost her memory. Priscilla told me that they got head over heels in love and married, so I could tell it hurt him bad.

But they were alive. If I was in his position, I knew I would focus on this fact. I would work my ass off to gain my wife again. I knew Roberto was probably doing the same.

I swallowed and turned my focus back on Kira. It was a safer territory. “She is happy to be here, you know.”

Priscilla wanted to visit her family immediately after the attack, but no one wanted her in New York when things were so complicated. Then we also decided to wait for her second trimester since we needed to take a plane.

Luckily, we made it here at the perfect time. Christmas. She was so damn happy to spend Christmas with her family.

Her smiles almost pained me because I remembered my suggestion to her. I thought maybe she was happier here. However, the thought didn’t linger too long. Now I knew it was not true. She was happy to be here with me.

She would probably prefer for us to live here in New York if it was possible, but that was it. Being together was more important than where we were together.

I knew it now. I knew it with my whole heart.

“We are happy to have you here,” Kira replied. Not just her butus.

I did my best to get along with her family. It made Priscilla happy, so it was no chore. But more than that, it was nice because they treated me like family too.

I guessed they saw how much I loved her and how much she meant to me.

I remembered our wedding day and how Kira was much different back then. I knew she was different because of me.

“You know what you told me was true.”

Kira’s red eyebrows rose. “Which one?”

All of it. “I didn’t deserve her.” I looked at Kira with a smirk. “But I do now.”

I really did know it. She was too fucking good for me, but I worked for it. I became a man that deserved her. I did it for her.

I did it thanks to her.

Kira smiled back at me. “You do,” she confirmed. “I told you, you can give her much more than you thought.”

Lovecan bloom even in the darkest of souls. So fucking true.

A smile took hold of my face as I looked at Priscilla. She was smiling at her brother as he wrote a name on her pregnant belly.

How could I feel this much? How could anyone love this much?
