“I’ll buy you a lap dance, and then you won’t miss him as much,” Kira said with a smile like she read my thoughts.

Beatrice and I laughed, but Michele only grunted. Since both Gabriele and Roberto were busy taking care of their child, he had to come with us. Our bodyguards were following the limo with a car, but Gabriele wanted to up even that security. I supposed he saw male-strip clubs as very dangerous territories. Gabriele asked Michele to escort us, and he accepted since he was still trying to get into his good side.

I chucked my champagne and answered her, “That is a great idea.”

Since both Kira and Beatrice were breastfeeding, they couldn’t have alcohol. As a result, I needed to drink for all of us. I mean, it was my bachelorette party, after all. I just wanted to have all the fun I could get from the world.

I had friends from my high school and a few cousins I was still in touch with, but I didn’t want them at my bachelorette party. I wanted to spend a fun night with Kira and Beatrice so I could ignore the fact that I was leaving them. I also wanted Mia and Bella because I thought it could be a good occasion to get to know each other before the wedding.

I was trying to push the sadness away with my excitement though I knew I was going to cry before leaving New York.

When we finally reached the club, Mia and Bella were already there with their two bodyguards. They were outside since Mia was smoking. When they saw us, both of them looked really excited. I was so relieved at the fact that they were friendly people. Mia was more so than Bella, but I thought it was because she was just a little more quiet than Mia.

“Heyyy!” I greeted them, and we all hugged. I figured they must start drinking, too, because we were all just too giddy and friendly. It could be because they wanted to make my party nice too.

In the end, I didn’t care. It was really good.

When we got inside and sat down, Mia clapped, looking at the stripper already on the stage. “I am totally getting a lap dance. Sal didn’t let me have this on my bachelorette party.”

I smiled at her excitement, but when I asked, “He didn’t?” there was a hint of disappointment in my voice.

Mia rolled her eyes. “No.”

Bella laughed at her. “It was ridiculous of you to even ask. Sal is the possessive type.”

One of Mia’s dark eyebrows lifted. “And Alessio is not?”

She laughed instead of answering, and then her eyes found mine. “You don’t have to deal with all that with Antonio.”

Mia elbowed Bella. “Hey, I love my husband being possessive.”

I smiled at them for a second and then turned back to the stage, sipping my drink. “Antonio can be possessive too,” I said, shrugging. When I felt they turned their heads at me, I added, “Just in a different way.”

I took a sideway glance and saw the concerned gazes of both women. They quickly tried to hide it with a smile, but I could tell what they were thinking. They were sad for me because I was expecting so much from Antonio. They saw him as an emotionless shell. He saw himself as that too.

I felt a piercing pain in my heart at the fact that his family was so ready to accept that. I wondered if they ever tried to look at him differently. If they managed to see what I saw in him.

Antonio just didn’t know how much more he was. He didn’t know what he was capable of. He needed someone supportive. From the look of it, his family was content at just accepting the current situation. Fortunately, I was not.

Antonio needed me.

Turns out, the strip club was not that much fun. I mean, it was, but not in the way I imagined. I loved spending time with my friends. We drank and laughed and gossiped. That part was really satisfying, but the strippers were just not good enough.

Mia seemed like she was having a great time. Kira didn’t like the idea of having a strange man too close to her, and none of us pushed her. If Mia and Bella didn’t know the reason for it, they didn’t say anything.

Beatrice was too damn shy, and I bought her a lap dance just to see how much she blushed, and the answer was tomato red.

Bella seemed amused, but she was definitely not having as much fun as Mia or me. I enjoyed the shows and the lap dances, but as the heat got intense, I could only think about Antonio. He was here in this city, and I was watching strippers. I wanted to watch him instead of these men. They were nothing compared to him.

At one point, when I was in the bathroom, I couldn’t stop myself. I took out my phone and texted him. Alcohol was affecting me to the brim, but I still tried my best to write it without typos because I knew he didn’t like that.

Priscilla: I wisch you were a stirpper

I got out of the stall and washed my hands while waiting for an answer. I watched myself for a little longer than usual in the mirror, so it was clear that I was drunk.

When I fished out my phone from my pocket, it had two texts from Antonio. I opened it smiling to myself.

Antonio: Are you drunk?
