For me, he was always more than Heartless. More than the Ice King. I wondered when he was going to see that I had conquered him and his emotionless heart. But then he hit a spot so deep inside me that all my thoughts left my mind, and I came around him just seconds before he started filling me with his warm cum.

It was just perfection.

Afterward, we took a shower, and I was so ready to sleep. I was just waiting for Antonio to come to bed and snuggle me. When he came to bed with fresh boxers, his brows were pulled tight, though.

“Is something wrong?” I asked. I didn’t want wrong; I just wanted snuggles.

He shook his head and got under the covers with me, pulling me to his body. “I was just going to talk to you about some things, but then I got distracted.”

“Oh, is it something important?”

“Yes. We need to talk about your protection.” When I raised my eyebrows, he explained, “I assigned you a bodyguard. Would you prefer him in the house or outside waiting for you when you want to go out?”

To be honest, I had no idea what I wanted. I was not practiced. “I don’t know. I never had a bodyguard.”

This made Antonio shocked. His eyes went huge. I don’t think I have ever seen him this expressive. “You were a Falzone. How did you not have a bodyguard?”

I rolled my eyes. “I mean, of course, I had them when I was small, but then I was not allowed to go out a lot. The guards in my uncle’s house were just supposed to keep me inside. They were never good at that, though. I would always sneak out.”

“You were going out by yourself?”

“I mostly went to Gabriele’s clubs.”

“Mostly?” Antonio asked with some anger in his tone.

I was not sure if I liked that he was showing some emotions or I was unhappy because it was anger. I kissed him to soften it anyway. “Nothing happened to me. I liked being free.”

He shook his head like my kiss did nothing. “How would you go to the city from your uncle’s house?”

I bit down my bottom lip. I mean, there was no need to lie. “I took cabs sometimes but mostly hitchhiked.” When I felt Antonio’s fingers tighten around me, I rolled my eyes. “I didn’t have a car!”

Antonio was not happy with that answer too. His fingers were digging into my flesh almost painfully now. I didn’t even know if he realized that. “Well, you have a car now and a bodyguard. I can’t let you go out alone.”

I really didn’t like that. “We have time to talk about that.”

“We don’t if you want to leave the house tomorrow.”

That got my attention. All the sleep left me. “You won’t be with me tomorrow?”

Antonio’s body softened a bit. He realized our positions were slowly switching. “I need to work. Leaving for the wedding made things hard.”

“I wanted to see Chicago.”

He caressed my side slowly. Apparently, he didn’t realize leaving me alone on our first day in Chicago was going to upset me. “I can ask Mia to…”

“No!” I said a little harsher than I anticipated. Then I felt bad and put my hand on Antonio’s chest, right above the rose tattoo, over his heart. His heartbeat was steady. “I want to do it with you.”

He thought about it for a second. I could see his internal battle. He wanted to work, he needed to work, but at the same time, he promised to be a good husband for me. It was not the battle of a man who was in love. It was the battle of an Ice King.

Finally, he took my hand from his chest and kissed my palm. “I’ll leave early in the morning and try to come back early. We will talk in the upcoming days, okay? I do work a lot. We need to find a compromise.”

I was not happy with that answer at all but still nodded and put my head on Antonio’s chest. I want to run away from this conversation. I just wanted the good sides of this.

Antonio brushed my golden locks away and whispered. “Please, don’t leave when I am away.”

I know he said it because he was worried for my safety. He wanted to give me a bodyguard. Still, I could almost feel a tad of desperation in his voice. It felt like it meant more than it did. I hated that it softened my insides, but it did. So, I nodded again. “I won’t. I promise.”

He held me closer, and I closed my eyes. We had more things to work out than I anticipated. Maybe happily ever after in marriages had more bumps than I originally thought. It was not all fairy-tale.
