I looked at Apollo for an answer, but he only gave me sleepy eyes. An answer didn’t come, but someone spoke from behind me. “Why are you still awake?”

I turned my head in a weird position to see Antonio’s strong form at the door. He looked so damn good, and I tried to create a smile for him as I sat up. “I didn’t hear you coming.”

He walked towards me and bent down to kiss my lips. “I was trying to be silent. I thought you were asleep.”

“I was trying to sleep with the movie.”

He sat down next to me and caressed my shoulder. His brows pinched together. “Are you well?”

Was my smile not real enough? I tried to brighten it. “Why would I be not well? I was a little sad that you were not here, but now I am happy.” I kissed his cheek to show him my happiness. I was, in fact, happier that he was here, but some sadness caused by my disappointment still lingered in me.

He pushed a strand of hair to the back of my ear and looked into my eyes, almost trying to see my soul. “Is it because of this morning? I didn’t mean to offend you. I am just worried for your safety.”

I could feel tears threatening to form in my eyes. I hated that he thought he was the problem when it was me. I hated I made him feel guilty while I was one to blame. I shook my head with a face that was miles away from the smile I just had. “It is not about you.”

He cupped my face with both of his hands. I felt so delicate under his touch. “Then what is making you sad?”

My eyes turned glossy. “I got my period today.” I looked down with my eyes since he was holding my face captive. “I am sorry.”

“Priscilla,” he murmured and brushed his thumb to my bottom lip. He caressed my face until I again looked up at him with wet eyes. “Why do you apologize for something like this? Why does this make you this sad?” He kissed the tip of my nose. “My Priscilla is happy. I want my Priscilla back.”

My bottom lip poked. “You want your Priscilla to give you children, and I am not pregnant.”

He kissed my bottom lip softly, carefully. “Priscilla, we haven’t been married for long. This will take time. I don’t want you to be sad every month. I am not expecting you to get pregnant in a month.”

“I just thought…” Antonio swiped a tear that was about to escape, and I sniffed. “I am very young. I thought it might happen very quickly.”

“Well, I am not as young as you. It may take some time. It is more than normal for it to take time. I made us take tests. We know there is no problem. We will have a child when the time is right.”

I nodded and sniffed again. “You are right.” He was right. I was just too emotional. “I think my period made me a little sensitive.”

“It is okay,” he murmured and kissed me again. “I will be here to make you feel better. I don’t like the sight of you that is not happy.” He nibbled my neck gently then. “Have you eaten anything?”

“I did,” I said but was faced with a skeptical look. I thought over the day to give him a good answer but didn’t have any. “We ate sushi yesterday.”

“You didn’t eat since then?”

“Well, I ate a bag of chips after my shower this morning.”

“Priscilla,” he said, this time with a warning tone. He didn’t like it when I missed meals or sleep while it was only natural for me. I was always all over the place. No wonder why Antonio found me irritating.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, smiling up with my still wet eyes. “I just forgot. I am sorry.”

He groaned and nipped the skin on my forearm. “Don’t apologize.” He pushed my arms away and rose from the sofa. “I am cooking something for you. You can’t go to bed hungry.”

“I am not hungry.”

“I am still cooking,” he moved to the kitchen.

I went in after him as he was shrugging off his jacket and rolling up his sleeves to reveal his delicious forearms. “You are tired, Antonio. Let’s sleep.”

“We’ll sleep after we eat.”

“I am not hungry.”

He looked up from the counter and answered with an icy tone, “I am hungry, and I want you to accompany me.”

To that, I couldn’t protest. I sat down on the chair and watched him cook for me. He always looked so hot working in the kitchen, but this time was different. This time the sight made my heart ache. I realized how addictive he was to me. In a very short time, he became such an important person in my life. He had the power to find me in a desperate state and make me happy right before he took care of me in a way no one ever did.
