“She is so hot,” I heard Luce say. Bianca just looked bored.

“Who is hot?” I asked, approaching them.

Before my wife could speak, Bianca shook her head. “Luce is trying to set me up with one of her friends from uni.”

Luce tried to set Bianca up a lot, especially since she officially declared she was over Verona. Her suggestions were usually from her friends from school. She had quite a bit now that she had started university for real instead of just taking a few classes. I was very proud of her.

Bianca was probably not very happy since Luce now had more people to push her way. She said no to all of them anyway.

I didn’t say that, though. I just asked, “Who?”

Luce answered, “Allison.”

A low whistle left my lips. “Sheishot.”

A hard punch came to my ribs. “Youcannot say that.”

I looked down at my wife’s fiery eyes with a smile despite the low pain. Because I forced her to work out with me, she was now much stronger. I didn’t like it when she used it against me, but I liked it when she was jealous. It was so unnecessary, but I loved it.

I sat down on the bench with my legs caging her in between and kissed her shoulder. “Not hotter than you.”

She rolled her eyes. “Don’t even try.” Despite her words, she didn’t pull back from me when I wrapped my arms around her but instead turned her attention back to Bianca. “I showed you her photo, but she is also really sweet. I think you are going to hit it off.”

“Yeah, because sweet is so my type.”

I couldn’t help my chuckle.

This time Luce elbowed me in the ribs. “Maybe it is time for a change.”

“It is,” Bianca nodded. “But I don’t want to waste my time looking for that. If it happens, it happens. I want something like the two of you had. You didn’t plan it, but it still happened. You didn’t need to go on a date your friends forced you to.”

“Yeah, instead, we married immediately,” Luce said.

“Wrong. We fucked and then got married.”

She rolled her eyes and again focused on Bianca. “The next time you come to pick me up after class, I will push Allison over to you so you can have a meet-cute.”

“You are insufferable. Valerio is rubbing off on you.”

“Hey! I am amazing,” I said with a charming smile that did nothing to Bianca.

She got up, looking disappointed with us. “I am going to go play with the dogs. They are better company.”

Luce gasped while Bianca left. “I would understand if she said cats.”

I chuckled and bit down the soft skin of her neck. I whispered onto her skin, “I have good news.”

“What is it?”

I wiggled the file in my hand with a smile. Luce’s eyes widened, looking back at me, and then she ripped the file away from my hand. She opened it, and a little happy sound I never heard from her left her. “Oh my god,” she said happily.

I kissed her cheek. “I told you Gino couldn’t hurt us anymore.”

“I know,” she nodded. “I just couldn’t believe it, you know. I couldn’t stop believing he was going to take Elsie away from us.”

Even the mention of it made violent thoughts dance in my head. I inhaled Luce’s hair to calm myself, but my voice was still a bit harsh when I said, “No one is ever taking Elsie away from us.”

“Except Tony.”
