I still couldn’t believe he chose a woman for that. At first, I thought he made his fuck buddy his Best Woman to piss me off, but I knew he would not do that. He liked picking on me, but he would not do anything to disrespect me. At least, that was what I gathered from knowing him for two months. He still annoyed me, but at least I knew he had his boundaries.

Best Woman was probably more for the guests. If Valerio liked annoying me, then he loved annoying the traditionalists. I actually had no problems with that.

“Strippers then.”

“Probably,” he said like it didn’t matter. “Are you having a bachelorette party?”

I couldn’t help but snort. “I don’t think my dad would approve of any kind of bachelorette party.”

He remained quiet for a few seconds, and then his sinister voice came, “We should change that.”

He was cute to think of me. He was actually very thoughtful. Only if he was not too persistent in being annoying, he would be the perfect man. At first, he forced me to text him. He tricked me into actually liking talking to him. Before I knew it, I was letting him call me.

That was definitely not the plan. He was distracting me.

I still managed to keep my distance in my words, but he didn’t care. Nothing offended him. He seemed to be fueled by my dismissal, actually.

“No need,” I answered. I was really not interested. “I don’t have anyone I want to have a party with anyway.” I had already stupidly told him I had no friends, but I didn’t want to repeat it. Things I loved consisted of sneaking out at night and Elsie.

“I will come a day before the wedding and will have people with me who would love to give you a party. Your father can fuck himself.”

I actually liked how he could so easily make my father do things he would never do. He was protective of me against my father as well. My father hated it but didn’t do anything. He said he was giving me peace in my last days alive.

Only these were not my last days.

I wondered what he was going to do when he found out.

“I don’t want to party with people I don’t know,” I said, even though that’s what I did every time I went out at night.

Valerio didn’t mention that, though. “Then you can party with me.”

“I don’t think the groom should attend the bachelorette party.”

“Who says.”

“Um- Society?”

“Fuck society.”

My lips tipped up a bit, and I let it just because he couldn’t see it. I didn’t let it show in my voice, though. “You know, taking me to a club and trying to fuck me is not considered a bachelorette party.” Honestly, it would be very fun considering our last time together, but I couldn’t let it. Things were different now.

He gasped dramatically. “What kind of a guy do you think I am? I am not letting you touch me until we are husband and wife in the eyes of God.”

I smiled again. Damn him. However, my smile dimmed when I actually thought about his words. I wondered if he would force me into having sex when we were married. I was ready to do anything in order to survive, but getting out of this with minimal damage wouldn’t be the worst thing.

“But really,” he said before I could answer. “We can do whatever you want.”

Hmm. That was intriguing. “What if I want to go to a male strip club?” I knew Valerio didn’t have much toxic masculinity, but I still liked to challenge him.

He chuckled. “It wouldn’t be my first time in one of those.”

“Really?” That actually surprised me a bit.

“Yeah. I enjoy it as much as I enjoy female strippers.”

“Oh.” The meaning of his words surprised me even more.

“Don’t worry, I am not sharing a deep secret with you,” he said with amusement. “It is not a secret.”
