“Everyone,” she continued. “My father, my mom, my master... They all left me. Even Adam. They all leave and they don’t care about me, about what I feel inside. My feelings... How it feels to be abandoned.”

She gasped, only to fail in holding back her tears. Dante watched them roll down, caressing her cheeks beautifully. Eden shook her head, upset.

“I’ve had enough,” she said. “Why is everyone, always...”

She suddenly stood up to shout at the world beneath.

“I never asked to be alone! I never asked to be saved! And I never asked them to do what they did for me! I would have been fine, if they had just... stayed with me.”

Eden broke into more tears, and this time, Dante stepped forward, walking up to her calmly. He managed to come within arm’s length before Eden noticed, and stepped back.

“You too!” she yelled at him. “You’re just another selfish bastard! You’re going to leave me as soon as you’re done using me, aren’t you? All you want is Ghost, the hacker! Why do you even bother with something you’re going to throw away eventually?! I don’t want your dinners, your gentleness, your stupid dates! I don’t want you to be so confusing! I hate that you’re so nice to me, trying to get in my head! I hate it! I hate you!”

“...I’m not going to throw you away.”

Dante’s calm words took Eden by surprise. She glared at him, still crying, but she remained quiet, and didn’t move when he took another step closer.

“I won’t leave you,” he said.

Another step. Eden’s shoulders kept moving, and her feet looked as if they were about to retreat at any moment. Still, they remained stuck on the ground, and she was staring at him, conflicted. Her mind was split in two, a part of her wanting to run to him, the other part wanting to run away.

“You’re a liar,” she said.

“I’m not.”

“You’re a liar,” she repeated, “and you’re going to leave me. Everybody makes promises and breaks them. There’s no such thing as staying together, not in this world, and not with me. You more than anyone else. I can’t trust you and your sweet lies. Bastards like you crush hearts.”

“Not yours.”

Eden remained quiet, still staring at him with a mix of anger and pain in her eyes. She was hurt; not by him, but by all those that had left her before. He could tell. Eden was good at keeping those walls erect around her heart, but that didn’t mean it hadn’t been badly hurt already…

Dante took another step forward, and she retreated, but he kept going.

“I won’t leave you,” he said. “I don’t care nearly as much about Ghost as I care about Eden. I want Eden. Not Ghost, but Eden. Only Eden, no one but Eden. I’ve wanted you since I saw you at the bar. Once I want something, I take it and I don’t let go. I won’t leave, and you won’t be able to escape from me.”

Eden gasped as she kept retreating. She was now almost scared of this man, and that hint of madness in his eyes. His possessiveness and the way he looked right at her. Still, Dante did exactly as he promised. Eden couldn’t escape him. The more she retreated, the faster he stepped forward, until her heels reached the edge of the building. Eden felt the wind from behind, and for a second, it felt like her body might tip over. She wondered if that would be a better option.

Dante grabbed her and pulled her back to face him. Eden was breathless, but he didn’t leave her any room to breathe. With his hands holding her shoulders, he suddenly kissed her.

It was one furious, hungry kiss. One full of possessiveness, passion, and danger. Still, it melted all her senses. Eden moaned under his aggressiveness, and her lips began moving too. Dante’s kiss was difficult to withstand. His lips and tongue were recklessly attacking her, without an ounce of restraint. It was savage. Her lips didn’t get a second of rest, and instead, had to keep up with the furious rhythm of his relentless kissing. Eden moaned helplessly, feeling the temperature rising despite the cold wind around them. She was hot. That kiss was hot, and getting hotter fast.

Dante’s hands were not letting her back away or run. He was all over her, keeping her close and caressing her body. She felt his warm, large hands sneaking under her top, pressed against her skin, rushing up and down restlessly. He was driving her crazy. Crazy for wanting more of this. This was the kind of passion she wanted, what she needed. She held onto his shirt, holding him close and tight. Their kiss was salty from her tears, but it felt so good. Eden didn’t want this to stop. She needed warmth, someone’s warmth, even if it was just for a fleeting moment. Someone to chase the loneliness away.

“Dante,” she gasped between their kisses.

There was something thrilling and dangerously intimate in calling his name. Had she ever called him by that name before? Eden wasn’t sure, but she probably would have remembered if that were the case, no? It was too late to think. She didn’t have time for questions, just for his kisses.

Chicago’s cold winds couldn’t help her cool down this heat. Eden was so hot, just too hot, and now things were getting worse. They were slowly retreating toward the elevator. His fingers on her neck, grabbing the base of her hair and keeping her against him, were driving her crazy. Eden wanted more. She wanted him to keep caressing her, making her body even hotter. She could feel all her senses burning with the color of passion. It was as if she didn’t need air, and all her needs were now focused on one man only. She just needed someone, and that someone had to be him. The Tiger, Dante De Luca. If he was lying, she just wanted to live in this lie for a short moment.

At least, this moment...

They reached the back of the elevator without stopping their kisses, even for a second. The elevator started to move, but Dante suddenly lifted her up and Eden wrapped her legs around his waist, putting her hand on the mirror behind him. Eden didn’t even glance up to look at their reflection. The elevator reached whichever destination it was headed for fast, and Dante stepped forward, taking the two of them out. Eden already had her hands on his shirt, and she was moving to get it out of the way as fast as possible.

The black tiger appeared on his skin and she couldn’t help but glance at it, intrigued. Noticing Eden was less focused on their kissing but more on his tattoo, Dante smiled, and instead, began attacking her neck furiously. He kissed, sucked, and licked it, making Eden’s senses run wild again. The young woman gasped and closed her eyes, forgetting all about the tattoo. How long has it been since she was kissed and seduced by a man like this? Dante wasn’t letting her think or breathe. He was the one half-naked, but Eden felt completely exposed under the Italian’s hungry hands, his fingers running all across her skin, above and under her clothes. His fingertips were following her back, making delicious chills crawl under her skin.

After a while, he finally let her down, and Eden decided to take command. She was as hungry as he was, and had no intention to let him lead the way. With both hands on his torso, she pushed him until the mafia boss tipped over onto the bed. She had just now realized they were back in the room they had slept in... but she didn’t care much. Truth is, bed or not, it didn’t change a thing. Eden just wanted him. They could have done this anywhere, as long as it was now. Absolutely nothing else mattered.

Now she was on top of him, on the edge of the bed, with the Tiger on his back. Eden stood back up, just to quickly get rid of her top and her bra. Dante smiled and tried to sit up, but Eden wasn’t having it. She pushed him back aggressively and kissed him, pinning him down to the bed. He didn’t seem to hate it, though. Instead, he groaned against her lips, as his hands held her waist, his fingers sneaking inside her pants... Eden kept kissing him but at a slower pace this time. She was hot, even with half her outfit gone. Desire was crawling in, and some knot in her stomach was slowly torturing her. Moreover, from where she was seated, she could feel the bump in Dante’s pants, slowly rubbing between her legs... Even with the layers of fabrics, she could feel the heat of excitement, making her crazy. She began slowly undulating her body without thinking, and he was moving too. Although she was on top, his hands on her waist were in control, and making sure their bodies didn’t part... It felt as if they were making love already. Their position was too enticing, and their uninterrupted kiss wasn’t innocent at all.
