“Oh, that one’s gotta hurt... Well, our favorite Kitty is fighting like a lioness, Kitty Boss! But that witch is not giving her a good time... Oh, we could make a show out of this. Two ladies fighting in an arena! Should I broadcast this? We could be rich if we make the viewers pay!”

“Loir... Fuck... you!” roared Eden in their ears.

While the crazy hacker laughed, Dante’s lips spread in a vicious smile. If she still had the time and energy to get mad at him, she wasn’t doing so badly. Most likely, the confined space she was in wasn’t practical to fight an opponent...

Suddenly, Rolf barged into the room from the other entrance, with more of their men, all of them looking tired or injured. It was clear they had barely made it inside, some bearing visible marks of their fight against the Chimera. Still, they didn’t say a word and joined the rest of their group as they made their way to the next room. Dante grabbed an abandoned piece of clothing lying on the ground, and slowly wiped the blood off his weapon.

“Boss. Another group just took down one of the east walls. They are not the Rat’s or the Snake’s, they began shooting at everyone in the Red Temple without hesitating. All of these men were dressed in black, but they are clearly mercenaries armed by the Core. They have begun firing at all groups, and now all are making progress toward the building. The Chimera just fell.”

“But I wanted it!” whined Loir.

“...What of Thao’s men?”

“They found another way in, but they haven’t caught up to us yet. We’ll most likely run into them soon. Right now, our men are getting rid of the Yakuza first and trying to get to the weapons rooms downstairs.”

“Oh, they won’t!” protested Loir. “I’m saving the toy room for Kitty Boss!”

Despite the hacker’s playful tone, Rolf knew how to read his boss. Despite the huge progress made inside the Red Temple and their men gaining more ground each minute, it still wasn’t enough. His stone-cold expression wasn’t good. Was it the Core’s involvement or Eden’s situation making the boss upset like this? He wasn’t sure yet, perhaps a mix of the two.

Without saying a word, Dante turned his feet, taking a different direction than his men. Rolf decided to follow him, a bit unsure of his boss’ new plan. He was clearly headed toward a different area, not looking to go upstairs or downstairs even as they walked past several stairs. When they reached a room, Dante walked in without any hesitation and, before anyone inside could move, began slicing one man after the other without blinking. Rolf took out his own weapon, a medium to long-range gun, and began shooting each one that could have hindered his boss. Only once everything was silent did Dante step over the bodies and move on to the next room.

“Eden, don’t move from where you are. I’m coming,” he suddenly said.

“Wha-whatever!” grunted the young woman, probably having a hard time as well.

Suddenly, a gunshot resonated in their ears, and Dante froze.

“...Kitty?” called out Loir with a tiny voice.

“...You damn bitch, my leg!” furiously shouted Eden after a second.

“Oh. She’s fine!” announced Loir, as if Dante hadn’t heard too. “She’s grumpy, but she’s fine! Damn, Kitty, you scared me for a second! You can’t do that to people, I’m on my last pair of underwear!”

Rolf frowned, confused. That hacker really was a strange creature... However, once Eden’s status had been confirmed, the boss resumed walking, visibly determined.

Suddenly, that woman appeared in a corridor. Not Eden, but Rose, the red-haired woman who had been all over the boss. As soon as she spotted them, her eyes lit up, and she ran to them, looking like a mess. Her previously beautiful hairdo was completely undone, and her clothes were a mess. She even had blood on her leg, as she had visibly walked over some bodies with her bare feet…

“Please!” she called out. “Save me! Those people began fighting in the room we were in, so I ran!”

“Which room?” coldly asked Dante.

“Th-the one over there!” she answered, her trembling finger pointing out somewhere further down the corridor they were in.

Dante was about to resume walking, but she suddenly grabbed his arm. Rolf noticed how she was purposely pressing her breasts against him, and probably acting more afraid than she really was too. The Tiger looked down at her with eyes as cold as ice.

“S-save me,” she whispered. “I can be your woman like she can never–”

He shot her before she ended that sentence.

One clean, neat shot in the head, so quick she hadn’t seen his hand move before the end of the barrel was on her forehead. The woman fell backward with that shocked expression still on her face, her body loudly hitting the floor. Rolf took one step to the side without saying a thing.

“D-Dante! Was that Rose?” asked Eden, still grunting and probably fighting meanwhile. “...Is she a–Agh!–alright?”

“...No. She was just shot down. ...I’m coming to you.”

Rolf didn’t say a word, but he was impressed by his boss’ ability to lie without a hint of guilt. Although, he didn’t lie. Only the way he answered, it sounded like the woman was shot by enemy fire, not his... Dante’s golden eyes on him convinced him to stay silent, and forget about that scene quickly. He had learned long ago not to ask too many questions or say anything he shouldn’t. The Tiger resumed walking, and so did Rolf, not adding a word, the two of them leaving one more body behind.

Dante finally reached the room Rose had indicated, but this time, he stayed outside. Rolf recognized Thao’s voice as she was yelling at her men from inside that room.
