“Oh... Wait, Big Kitty wants you you? Or the other... you?”

“He wants Eden to beat Ghost.”

A long silence followed, and just when she wondered if they had been cut off, Loir suddenly began laughing out loud. She rolled her eyes, annoyed at his antics, but then remembered to pretend to be washing her hair. Irritated by his little fun, she waited until he had toned down his stupid laughing.

“Seriously? Wait, do you think he knows?”

“I sure hope not, but I need to prove it to him.”

“Well, now this is interesting. Big Kitty chasing the Little Kitty. I like a little bit of fun... What do you need, Kitty?”

“First, can you run a convincing clone program? A very convincing one, in a hack?”

“It could be fun! I mean, it wouldn’t be a first, but I need to find records of you and work on them though. I haven’t played with other little Ghosts in a while...”

“Find an old one so it seems like I can beat Ghost without making it too easy. I really need to win Loir, or they’ll kill me. Just get a convincing one.”

“Yes, yes... How will the big mean Tiger know, though?”

“I have no idea. He just said I needed to beat Ghost in a hack, any hack. I don’t know... I guess he’ll want me to wait for Ghost to show up.”

“Playing cat and mouse again! That’s one really mean kitty... Alright, alright, I can do that. For once, that might be a little bit of a challenge, anchoring you and playing around with our little Diggity-Ghost!”

“I’ll also need new gear, as Eden. The one I have won’t be convincing enough if I need to beat Ghost. Can you help me out?”

“A little upgrade? Of course, Baby Kitty Girl! I can find the best stuff on the market...”

“Nothing too much, Loir, I don’t want them to know where it comes from...”

“Gotcha! Plus, I’ll assume your wallet has a big mean hole as always?”

Eden sighed. It wasn’t about money anymore, more about staying alive, if she could... which felt like one hell of a bet already.

“They are tracking me, Loir,” she said, changing the subject. “I can’t talk to you all the time, and I’ll have to turn my SIN back off too.”

“No problem! I’ll have a lot to keep myself busy with anyway...”

“And... can you do me a favor and check if Jack and the others are okay?”

“Oh, yeah, about that...”

Eden felt a cold shiver go down her spine.

“Wait, what? Loir?”

“I kind of already did that when I heard there was a little party at the bar. Hacked everyone’s SINs... There is some bad news, Kitty; the Grim Reaper went mean.”

Eden closed her eyes, letting that pain sink in her heart. She already knew. She had seen the bodies of June and Bella... She just wasn’t sure she was ready to hear who else had been a victim. However, she ought to know. It might even fuel her anger against the Italians for later.

“Three women are dead, Kitty. June Oswald, Bella Garcia, and Yuri Li. But the others are fine.”

“What about Jack?”

“Your friend Jack is fine, he went to the hospital and his records show only a broken arm and two gunshot wounds; he’ll be good as new next week.

She let out a long sigh. She was a little bit relieved the death list hadn’t gotten much worse without her knowledge... She felt sorry about Yuri. She had just joined the bar’s staff a few weeks ago.

“Keep watching them, please. I need to cut off now, Loir. Just run the Ghost program once everything is ready, okay?”
