She kept entertaining the old man quietly until some ruckus caught her attention. A bunch of young men had walked into the bar, and she could tell some weren’t sober by any means. She hesitated, but their bouncer shook one of their hands and seemed fine with letting them in. She glanced at Jack, who had spotted them too, but he shook his head, meaning for her to stay put. Eden saw Rose come from across the room with a large smile. It was her favorite type of customer: rich brats looking to brag and spend their money without thinking...

Although she tried to stay focused on Mr. Charles, Eden kept glancing over. Rose seemed to have the situation under control. She wasn’t the most popular hostess for nothing... The redhead entertained the little group of four young men with her bright smile and fake laughs. She was truly beautiful. Her cream-colored skin was perfect, and she had recently done her hair in some gorgeous burgundy curls. Even her dress was one of the few not bought by Jack; a customer of hers had gifted her that short, sequined black dress.

Eden returned to chatting with Mr. Charles, thinking Rose had everything under control. Those weren’t their first drunkards, and the redheaded hostess looked fine handling them. She already had two bottles of the most expensive gin on the table, which was a good sign too...

“Hey! I said I want that one!”

She sighed internally before turning her head. She just knew when customers were about to get troublesome. She had been in this field for too long not to recognize them ahead of time.

One of the young men was pointing his finger at one of Bella’s holograms, the one that was dancing on the stage in a cute purple outfit. He stood up, staggering, and tried to make his way to the stage. One of his friends grabbed his wrist while laughing.

“It’s a fake, you idiot! Come on, man, don’t cause a commotion now. It’s Justin’s night...”

“So what! He’s the one getting married! I just wanna play with that pretty slut… Get me a room with her. Now.”

Eden took a deep breath in and glanced toward Jack. The bartender was already making his way across the room with his business smile.

“Sorry, dear guest, Bella is currently busy with another guest. Should I call someone else for you?”

The man grimaced at Jacquie’s appearance, checking him out from head to toe.

“You fucking drag! You’re the one who decides here?”

“I’m the owner, yes, dear guest.”

Eden knew Jack ought to be boiling inside, but he was doing a great job of hiding it... The man suddenly waved his arms around, a bit weirdly, glaring at Jack.

“I-I want that girl! How much!”

This time, Jack lost his smile, and Rose was the one to stand up, putting her hands on the guest’s shoulder with her most charming smile on.

“I’m sorry, dear guest, but Bella is under the age restriction for this kind of service... However, I’d be happy to take care of you if you want.”

Despite asserting her words with a sexy wink, it fell completely flat. The man looked at her as if she were an idiot and started laughing.

“I said I want that one! Age restriction? What age restriction? You are all fucking outlaws anyway!”

A silence took over the room. Jack glanced at Eden, and she slowly stood up this time, giving a little smile to Mr. Charles. The old man sighed and picked up his glass, shaking his head. Those arrogant youngsters, he thought...

In the middle of the jazz bar, the drunk young man was smirking, looking amused by Rose’s cold expression. The hostess had dropped her nice smile and was crossing her arms, expressionlessly listening to his rant.

“You think I don’t know?” he continued. “I can do whatever I want with you. The law doesn’t apply here! You’re just trash, criminals! I can do anything to you and no one would care! So get that little bitch here now!”

Rose sighed, not impressed in the slightest. The lack of response from the staff surprised the young man, but no one around was batting an eye. Even worse, some of the guests looked at him as if he was a nuisance. A cold atmosphere fell on the room, and suddenly, the jazz music wasn’t giving off such a pleasant ambiance anymore.

“Stop being an idiot, man...” whispered his friend, trying to pull him back. “Don’t make a fuss now… We were having fun...”

“Seriously?” retorted the drunk. “Who cares! This isn’t the Core; there’s no laws here! You can do whatever you want to these people! Isn’t that why we came here to have fun?”

He was half-smirking and half-aggressive, which was enough to make everyone uncomfortable. Some of the other customers were glancing toward the door, probably wondering if they should leave before things took a bad turn. Yet, all of the staff seemed extremely calm, as if they were used to these kinds of situations.

“This is not the kind of fun this establishment is offering, sir,” said Jack with a stern voice. “I will politely remind you, this club is open to gentlemen only. We will have to escort you out unless you temper your attitude.”

Rose sighed, waving her curls, and returned to sit with some other customers, leaving the young men alone at their table. Now, it looked like they were isolated from the other people in the bar, and everyone had turned their glares to them. The previously joyous atmosphere of the bar had turned a bit scarier and somewhat sour, even with the jazz still playing in the background.

However, this only angered the young men more, as they felt isolated. Out of the group of four, two were looking a bit concerned about their position at the moment, but one of them stood to come by the drunkard’s side with an aggressive stance.

“Hey, you better show some respect,” he said. “My friend is just a bit drunk, but this is a bar; you should handle it. Gentlemen, my ass. Aren’t you just prostitutes... and a fag!”
