"Are you enjoying yourself?"

I set the glass down and kiss the back of his hand. "Are you kidding? This is incredible."

"You are incredible." He squints at the sun as it hangs above the horizon, coloring the sky in a palette of pinks and purples. "Take a walk with me?"

"Of course."

We're strolling for a few minutes, talking about the upcoming cities and what we can expect for our first seminar. I'm nervous about the prospect of public speaking, but knowing Jamie will be by my side calms me.

As we approach a part of the hillside that juts out over the valley, Jamie's hand pulls away from me. "Let me get a picture of you here."

I grin. "Okay. But then I want one with you."

He takes out his phone and snaps a few. "Now give me one with you looking out over the valley," he says.

Feeling loose and relaxed, I spin around and open my arms wide, welcoming not only this valley before me but the future to come.

Jamie sighs. "Perfect."

"Okay, now one with—" I spin around to face him and my thoughts vanish. What was I saying? "Holy shit."

Jamie is kneeling before me, his hands outstretched, a massive diamond ring in his hands. The setting sun glints and my heart swells.

"Lara." His voice chokes up. "You're my everything. My world. My best friend. You make me a better man, and I want to spend every day for the rest of our lives making you happy. Will you marry me?"

Tears spill down my cheeks and goosebumps ripple across my arms. "Jamie, I love you more than life itself."

"Is that a yes?"

"That's a hell yes."

His laugh fills my heart, and as he slides the ring onto my finger, I'm at a loss for words. I've never known happiness like this, and as his arms tighten around me, I've never felt safer with anyone.

He kisses me and we stand there, locked in each other's arms as the sun slips behind the mountains.
