“Dani,” he rasps, stroking himself harder.

My heart leaps into my throat. The sounds he makes sends me into a spiral. His soft grunts, the way he moans my name makes my core throb and the butterflies in my stomach flutter.Holy shit, is this seriously happening right now?Heknowsthere are cameras. I told him as much. Does this mean… he’s doing this on purpose?

I can’t resist.

My pace is quick to match his, my ears flooding with the sounds of his ragged breathing. I imagine those rough hands of his all over my body, sliding over every dip and curve in the greedy manner I know he’s capable of. I find myself moaning when he does, my heart beating a mile a minute as I draw closer and closer to the edge.

This is crazy. Unlike me. Yet I can’t bring myself to stop.

I throw my head back as wave after wave of pleasure sweeps over me, bringing along with it a heat that leaves my whole body tingling in delight. I’m dizzy from my climax, and the steam certainly doesn’t help. By the time I finally have enough strength and come back to my senses, I look up at my laptop to find Luka’s already vacated his spot in the kitchen. He returns not two seconds later from down the hall, looking refreshed and damn pleased with himself.

What he does next shocks me. He approaches the surveillance camera Gomez set up in the living room. It’s a small device, barely larger than a quarter and hidden inside the fire detector. Luka stands just below, smiling at it. He has the audacity to wink at the camera.

I sink into my bathwater, flustered as hell.

That smug bastard.

He’s got another think coming to him if he thinks he can get away with teasing me like that. I’m going to give him a piece of my mind… Just as soon as I’m done chugging the last remnants of my wine.

Chapter 17

Luka

If Dani thought I wouldn’t be able to make something out of her sad excuse of an outdated laptop, she thought wrong. She clearly doesn’t understand just how much I love a challenge.

I can make any computer do my bidding as long as I have the right parts and the know-how—of which I have both. A motherboard, a central processing unit, a graphics card, RAM, and a hard disk drive. Those are the five basic components I need to get this thing up and running. Everything else is just bells and whistles.

Within twenty minutes, I’ve got an internet connection thanks to one of my neighbors with an unsecured modem namedTooFly4MyWiFi. The first thing I do is open a secure chat box that automatically puts me in contact with my brothers. I designed the program myself, a few simple lines of code that leave no message history and deletes everything the moment I close the window. Just because I’m under the FBI’s protection doesn’t mean I’ll stand for them breathing down my neck.

They’ve got me in a safehouse.

Have you checked the Pit?

I’m almost a little surprised when Mikhail messages me back immediately. Given the time difference, it should be the middle of the night in Moscow. He must have been waiting for an update.

They’re gone.

I sit back in my seat and grimace. That’s definitely not good. If Konstantin, Levitsky, and Salkov are loose… My stomach clenches at the thought. Dealing with them one-on-one was painful enough. If they’ve somehow figured out a way to work together, the Antonov Bratva could be facing total annihilation.

But how??? I designed the security protocol myself.

Did you check the cameras?

What about the key fob data?

I’m looking into it.

Preliminary reports suggest there was a power outage.

I’ll bet you a million dollars it wasn’t an accident.

No shit.

I do my best to remain calm. I suppose thehowisn’t nearly as important as thewhat the fuck do we do now. If Konstantin, Levitsky, and Salkov are the Trinity -- which is a stupid fucking name—then we need to prepare for whatever they throw at us next.

Why did they come after me?

Easier target?
