“You taste so good,” I said when we finally had to breath, burying my face in the curtain of her hair. Teagan still held me tight, unwilling to break the contact; one arm around my shoulders and another around my hooded head. “Jesus, I missed you.”

I started to lower her to the ground, but she resisted moving out of my arms and held on for dear life. “Chase,” she said softly, her mouth moved from speaking into kisses on my jaw and then my neck. “Oh, God.”

I didn’t want to deny her request and lifted her off the floor again. I was willing to hold her close as long as she wanted, even standing as we were in the middle of the airport terminal. “I wish you could monkey me,” I said softly, kissing the side of her cheekbone and then her temple.

Teagan held me, and I knew she was crying. I could feel her hot tears drip on my skin, rolling down from my collarbone onto my chest. “I can’t believe you’re here.”

My heart was exploding with love, and there was nothing in the world I wanted in that moment than to hold on to this woman. “Hush, my love. It’s okay, baby. You’re stuck with me,” I said, smiling because I couldn’t help myself. I knew she wasn’t crying because she was sad because my own soul was fucking flying. My hand moved up her back to hold the back of her head and I kissed her again and again.

We clung together as Teagan cried softly in the circle of my arms. “Baby, it’s okay,” I laughed softly. “I’m not going anywhere.” Her hands slid across my shoulders and up to cup both sides of my face. She opened her tear-filled eyes and gazed into my face. I met her gaze, though I had the sunglasses on and she couldn’t tell. She bent and kissed me hard once more and tugged on my beard. “Is this supposed to be a disguise?”

I laughed and sat her down, bending to pick up my bag at the same time my other hand slid down her forearm to thread my fingers with hers. “Yes.”

“It isn’t working.”

I laughed out loud. “Not with you, but something’s working because I haven’t been accosted for an autograph once.” I shrugged. “If you don’t count the flight attendant, that is.”

“What if it scare’s your daughter?”

“Will it?” I asked. “Because then, we might just have to get a room so I can shave before she sees me.”

“I’d love that, hon, but she’s waiting, and not very patiently.”

“I’m stoked to see her. Last night on Skype, she looked so healthy. I can hardly believe the transplant is taking hold.”

Her free hand settled on the inside of my bicep as we walked hand in hand out of the terminal and across the street to the garage. It was the same garage where I learned I had a daughter.

“I held my breath, afraid to stop worrying, but Dr. Radar said she hasn’t rejected it and feels the prognosis is good.”

“Did he say when she’ll be able to get out of the tank?”

“Not yet.”

“Ugh.”

“Chase, thank you.”

“No, thank you.” I looked down at her as we walked the last few feet to her SUV. Teagan handed me the keys. I popped the hatch and threw the bag inside, instantly clicking the doors open with the fob. I held open the passenger side door as Teagan climbed inside, and all that bare skin was torture.

“I bet you’ve got some delicious little nothing on under that little dress. Are you trying to torture me?”

“Yes.” Her eyes flashed sensually and she licked her lips. “Is it working?” She taunted me with my own words.

A grin spread across my face as I slid my hand up the outside of her thigh, seeking to discover what I already knew was there. My fingers slid up her leg and over her hip, finding a small expanse of silk and lace. “Yes. It’s definitely working.” I murmured the words against her mouth before regretfully closing her door. I walked around to slide into the driver’s side.

I started the car and Teagan opened the glove compartment and pulled out the parking ticket. I retrieved my money clip from the front pocket of my jeans and threw it in the console. I backed out and drove through the darkened garage. It wasn’t long until I’d paid for the parking and we were racing north along I-85.

I reached for Teagan’s hand and pulled it up to hold it on my thigh. Glancing at her, I took in her profile. She was perfect. Sunglasses hid her dark eyes, but her cheeks held a beautiful pink blush and her lips curved into a happy smile.

“You are fucking beautiful!” I shouted as loud as I could in the inside of the car, startling her so bad she jumped in her seat. I pulled her hand off of my leg to kiss it.

“Are you crazy?” She asked, incredulously resting one hand over her heart.

“Crazy in love. I love you so much,” I said seriously.

Her pink lips curved to expose her white teeth in a brilliant smile. “You scared the crap out of me.”

“What’s going on with Jensen?” I had purposely refrained from asking her while I was away. She was packing up her things and I knew he filed, but I didn’t know what the progress was.
