After the car was turned off, Remi paused. She held my hand with both of hers and brought it to her chest. When I met her eyes, they were glassy with unshed tears.

“Hey, I didn’t mean to make you cry.”

I leaned toward her, and she met me halfway so we could kiss each other. Our mouths moved together in the amazing way I’d become familiar with. The scent of her perfume, shampoo and her skin filled my nostrils. I reached up with my free hand to cup the side of her face as we kissed again and again. Soft kisses, and teasing tongues that started to get more and more heated. I lifted my lips but pressed touched her forehead with mine. “Are you sad?”

“I’m so, so happy. I never thought this would happen.”

“It happened when we were six years old.” I placed one last kiss on her lips then got out of the car and walked around to open her door. “Come on, sweetheart. Let’s just change and save the shower for later. I made reservations at The Majestic.”

Remi was soon at my side. “Sure, we can shower later. I hear that the food there is incredible.”

A small wave of relief washed over me. “I’m glad to hear you haven’t been there with Alan.” I said his name with disdain.

“I’ve always wanted to go there.” Remi chuckled as we rode up the elevator. “I didn’t think princes worried about competition.”

I slid an arm around her and pulled her close. “I’ve always been competitive, you know that, and I know it’s his big IQ you liked.”

“Because he can’t compete with your big c—” she began but I picked her up in my arms. Her feet were dangling off of the floor when the elevator doors opened, and we headed down the hall toward her apartment.

“I’ll show you how big it is, but later.”

Remi giggled. “That’s okay. I’ve seen it.”

I burst out laughing with her and set her down only when we arrived at her door, opened it and went inside. “You have?” I asked softly. “I didn’t think you actually looked at it.”

Remi blushed beautifully as her head tilted to one side. “Well, I felt it and all that other stuff. I do have a good grasp of spatial reality, Dylan,” she said wryly.

I found it difficult to separate from her, but we did have reservations and I could be satisfied with just being in the same room as her. As usual, with Remi, close conversations, fights, touches and making love… it was all a big part of who we were to each other. I realized that sex with anyone else couldn’t compare to just talking to Remi.

“Go get ready, but I just have nice jeans and a button down, so don’t go getting all fancy. We’ll do that next time I’m in town.”

“That sounds nice.” She smiled softly and headed toward her room but left the door open.

“Jeans and a button down?” I asked, knowing that the open door was an invitation, but I knew if I went in there now, we’d never make it to the restaurant.

“No… the next time you’re in town.”

I had to admit… it did.

Remi

The food was great. The ambiance casually elegant. But the company was the best thing about the evening.

Dylan was so handsome that he stole my breath away. I couldn’t stop looking at him. I knew I was smiling so much because my cheeks actually ached. It was embarrassing but I couldn’t help it. I didn’t know if I’d ever been this happy, even in the cabin at Dollywood. The way he was looking at me was like fine wine and I was completely intoxicated. I knew that the night ahead would be glorious.

Knowing what was coming later, my body was buzzing as if the physical foreplay had already begun. The air was vibrating between us, and Dylan’s gaze was full of promise.

“Do you want more wine, sweetheart?” he asked.

After I nodded, he lifted the bottle and refilled my glass with the delicious French Bordeaux he’d ordered to go with the filet mignon topped blue cheese crust we’d both ordered. The meal was delectable and the wine a delicious compliment, but I was thinking about dessert.

Dylan’s soft smile and heated looks told me he was thinking the same thing. He set the bottle down and reached across the table for my hand and I gave it to him. His warm fingers gently caressed mine.

“I don’t want to rush things tonight, Remi. I don’t want to sleep. I want to spend every minute of the next eighteen hours touching you and making sure you know how much I love you.

I swallowed, trying to clear the sudden dryness in my throat and I blinked against the stinging in the back of my eyes.

“How do you make me so emotional, but at the same time, I’m so anxious to make love with you?” I knew my words would excite him, but I meant them with my whole heart. I could feel him in my heart in the same way his body would fill mine physically a short time from now. “I’ve never felt like this. I’ve never wanted anyone with the same, intense longing.”
