[Something else, babe.]

I imagine her behind her screen, rolling her eyes at my answer. Knowing that I piss her off as much as I excite her makes me feel like a fucking king. I haven’t been able to be reasonable when it comes to her for a long time. She opened up to me, and I swore to her that I would protect her. I wasn’t lying. She woke up a part of me that had been asleep for a long time.

Life has been a bitch with her. Iris has an even more twisted past than mine, but she’s a fighter.

And I think that…somewhere…her strength calls out to mine.

We’re both damaged. Our souls are half destroyed. But isn’t that what brings them together?

[My nose? :)]

I don’t have time to answer her when she sends me another message.

[I’d love to talk anatomy with you,

but I’m going to bed.

We’re going back to school tomorrow.

Good night.]

And that simple text puts a stupid smile on my face.

I’ve barely entered the lobby of Building A when Sarah stops me, her lower lip caught between her teeth. She undresses me with her eyes, lingering on my tight-fitting T-shirt. She is shorter than me, like most people, and I have to bend down to look her in the eye.

“Are you okay?” she asks me in a small voice. “You don’t look like you slept well.”

I glance at the black pleated skirt that clings to her legs and the sleeveless shirt, half open to reveal her breasts. Distant memories of me thrusting into her come back to me. She thinks she can get her hands on me again, but the only girl I want like crazy is sitting in the lecture hall.

“I’m fine,” I mumble, trying to get around her.

I can’t be cruel to her. Sarah is first and foremost a friend. She’s part of my group, and she’s loyal to me. But that’s it. I will never lay a hand on her again, and she has to understand that.

Which doesn’t seem to be the case, as her perfectly manicured hand grabs my forearm to hold me back. She raises her head to me, her long brown hair shining under the artificial light of the hall. Her eyes almost beg me to fuck her right there.

“I’d like to meet up after school. Maybe we could—”

“I already told you, Sarah, there’s fucking nothing between us.”

“I…I know, Tucker,” she murmurs, falsely submissive, flickering her eyes. “But I miss you.”

I feel like she just slapped me. I wrote those words to Iris last night, and they meant something else entirely. I don’t have time to push her away when the door opens beside us. A vanilla scent fills my nostrils, and I know exactly who has just entered the hall. I turn slowly, my eyes roaming over the small figure that appears before me.

Iris takes a step and then freezes as she discovers me there with Sarah and analyzes our position. She stares at Sarah’s hand on my arm with a curious, then angry look.

I don’t know why I don’t move as I continue to watch her. I want to make her react, I think.

She takes a step in our direction, unsure.

Come on, baby. Come dig your nails into me, come claim me, damn it.

The thought of it makes me hard as a rock. I need her. I want her. She drives me crazy, and I want her to get her claws out for me.

But most of all, I want to hold her as tight as I can. So that all the broken parts in her can finally come back together.

Sarah presses her chest against my arm, trying to bring my attention back to her. It fails.
