“Every day.” Austin’s lips move against my left cheek as Landry and Boone look into my eyes.

I sigh. From the pain of them not following through with it and from the knowledge, I now have that they wanted to.

“I see,” I breathe out. And I did. How many times did I hover a finger over the keypad of my phone, ready to dial? Or sit in my car with the directions pulled up on my navigation.

“The last thing I want to be is fuel for you three arguing.” I look over Boone’s shoulder. The sun is about to set, and I’m thinking dinner can wait. Mercy left a few surprises in her bag of clothes: vanilla-scented lotion I’ve already used, a jumbo box of rubbers, and a bigger bottle of tequila.

That woman, bless her soul. She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s my new best friend and when all this is said and done, I plan on showering that little baby of hers with gifts like a doting aunt.

Austin is back on his feet wiping my juices from his chin with a hand. He twirls me around, and I gasp into his mouth, giving him the opening he is looking for. I taste yummy on his lips and tongue and oh, God, the feel of his eager shaft between us has my mouth watering for a taste.

Later. Right now I plan on using all my new tools to help us all relax.

“None of us have time for bickering right now. Don’t you agree?” I step from the warmth of their bodies and crack open the lid to the bottle. I feel their eyes on me as I snag a few shot glasses off the back bar. I take my time filling them with a double shot of amber liquid.

“How about we settle a few things.”

“What do you have in mind?” Boone asks, leery of my intentions. Smart man.

I shoot back my drink and revel in the cool burst of flavor and the hot burn coating my throat.

“Like why you left me. I never understood. Is what we shared nothing to any of you?”

Boone scrapes a hand through his hair, ruffling the ends. “God, no. It wasn’t like that, sweetheart.”

My gaze finds his. “It was for me. I watched you walk.”

I pour another shot for a booster to the first. It goes down with a bite, but I welcome the liquid courage spreading through my body.

All three tip their glasses to their lips, and I watch their throats work sexily.

Austin takes my hand in his and kisses the back of my knuckles. Boone tips my chin up and when I bring my gaze to his, I finally see they are ready.

“Your father feared for your future and asked for our resignations. Demanded them. He used a few underhanded tactics to make sure we signed and walked away for good.”

“Like?” I ask.

“Like threatening to disinherit you. We couldn’t have that on our conscience.”

My heart drops. “Why would he do that? I never cared for his money; he should know that.” How could he think so little of me?

Austin shrugs. “Easy. He loves you. Any father would do and say anything to protect his little girl when three bastards show up wanting to court his daughter. But I suspect what really drove him was in the way it happened. The media. Cruel fucking bastards.”

My brows pinch. “Court me? What do you mean?”

“Meaning we had every intention of quitting that day. But in our version you were leaving with us.”

Oh.

Landry pulls my attention to him with a warm palm on my cheek.

“Look at me, sweetheart.” All anger and frustration are gone from everyone’s tone, and I finally feel I’m getting the answers I’ve wanted for so long. “We always wanted something deeper with you but what we want isn’t welcomed in polite society. We’re filthy and unwanted in the circles your father walks. You walk in. That’s what really stopped us from coming back. We would ruin you.”

“You didn’t give me a choice though. Don’t you think that was for me to answer? Not my father.”

“I never said any of us were perfect.” Boone looks contrite and he makes a point.

“We’ve all made mistakes, but—”
