“I don’t know what I’d do without Theresa,” I admitted, not needing to put up a front for her.

“You won’t have to find out,” she said firmly.

My phone rang, shocking the teacup out of my hand since I’d turned it up to its highest volume. I grabbed for it, ignoring the broken porcelain shards at my feet. Reina did too, clasping her hands in front of her as she waited for me to answer it.

It was Nikolai, talking over my harsh greeting. “I found him,” he said. “The dipshit actually used his real name to check into a place by the airport.”

“How did you find him so fast?” I asked. I blew Reina a kiss and flashed a thumbs up as I raced to my car. I had expected Yuri, with his police contacts and computer expertise, to be the one to get me information the soonest.

“Hotel people stick together,” he said. “I just had to put the word out. I’ve already got a team heading that way. I’ll send you the address. If we get there before you, what should I do?”

“Wait for me,” I said darkly, peeling out of Ivan’s long driveway.

I didn’t think he’d have to wait long, if at all, the way I tore through traffic. I rolled up to the cheap hotel at the same time as Nik and our crew. We gathered outside in the parking lot, deciding on a tactic. It took all my strength not to blow in there with guns blazing, but Nik talked me down.

“We’re still not sure if she wants to be here with him,” he said, out of earshot of our men.

I bristled, fists clenching with the urge to punch him, punch anything. “She doesn’t,” I snapped. “Now let’s go.”

Nikolai went in ahead of me, shaking hands with the manager, who looked excited about something so thrilling happening in his boring life. We left two men downstairs and four of us rode in tense silence to the third floor.

“He said Donny went out for a while but just returned about half an hour ago,”

I couldn’t hold back anymore and unleashed a punch against the stainless steel elevator door, leaving a dent. “Come on, man,” Nik said. “Keep it together.”

“A half an hour is a long time,” I growled.

We gathered at the door, listening, but all was quiet within. I had planned to kick it down, but Nik stepped in front of me and knocked, then neatly stepped behind me again. I moved to the side, expecting a hail of bullets when the door slowly swung inward.

Instead, Donny sullenly stuck his head out. “Took long enou—” His eyes bugged out when he saw us.

“Nope, not room service,” I said, slamming my fist into his face.

He reeled back, then scrambled for his desk, where an open laptop sat with some kind of dark-looking porn playing on it. I grabbed his shirt and yanked him back, slamming his face into the nearest wall. With a yowl of pain, he slumped forward, still grabbing for the laptop.

Two scantily clad women, both bloody and beaten, huddled together on the screen, and I slammed his face into the desk just for his choice of sick entertainment.

“They’re in the bathroom,” Nik called. He and the men hauled a metal wardrobe out from in front of the door and I glanced that way, but then movement on the screen caught my eyes. One of the women jumped up, and at the same time I heard my Theresa yell for help, I realized what I was looking at. The bastard was recording them. I called one of my men over, barking for him to keep his foot on Donny’s back, and ran for the bathroom door, helping them drag the wardrobe out of the way. The next few seconds were a blur, but then Theresa was in my arms, sobbing and clinging to me.

“Jesus,” Nikolai said, rushing forward to check her mother, lying in a bloody heap in the tub.

Keeping my arms firmly around Theresa, I pushed into the bathroom and located the camera, tearing it from its mount on the ceiling and smashing it onto the tiles.

“It’s over,” I said, holding her close.

“There might be more people coming,” she said, pointing to the ruined camera. “My mother said he was live streaming.”

“Let them come,” I growled. “I want them to.” I wanted to break each and every one of their fingers and jam them into their eyes for watching my woman’s suffering. When I noticed her torn dress, I decided to start with the one sniveling for mercy in the other room. “Stay here, little one,” I said, gently extricating myself from her tight hold and snapping for one of my men to watch over her.

I stomped over to Donny, lying on the floor with Nik’s foot on his back while our other guard zip tied his hands together. He alternated between begging to be let go and threatening us with his father’s wrath.

I leaned down and popped him hard in the mouth to get him to shut up. “I can’t wait to meet your father,” I said. “Does he know about your little hobby?”

I picked up the laptop, now filled with an empty screen, and clicked around, my rage growing as I saw all the files he had. I clicked on one at random and ragged whimpers rang from the speakers as the screen filled with Donny swiping a razor blade across Theresa’s mother’s chest. I quickly shut it off. I wasn’t squeamish and I’d seen—hell, I’d done worse than that to plenty of men. But never a woman, and never for some sick pervert’s entertainment. I raised the laptop to slam it into his sniveling face, but Nikolai stopped me.

“Evidence,” he said.

“Do you think this bastard is going to live long enough to see a trial, let alone a prison cell?”
