When my alarm went off, I sat up and stretched, smiling when I saw that Kira was still sleeping peacefully, her hand resting under her cheek and her rosy lips slightly parted. No amount of bruises could mar her beauty, but it still twisted my guts to see her in such a state.

I wished I could let her remain asleep, but we had things to hash out before we hit the ground. I needed to know where we stood. The last thing I remembered asking her before her father found us, was if she wanted a divorce. Instead of answering, she had wanted to pretend for a little while longer. Did she actually want a divorce now? If she thought that offer was still on the table, she was in for the fight of her life.

I reached over and patted her shoulder until her eyes fluttered open. To my surprise, she flung herself at me, hugging me tight around the waist so she wouldn’t disturb my shoulder. She held on, her heart beating hard and fast, her eyes wide when she looked up at me.

“You really came back for me,” she said.

“I never left. It was all a trick to get your father to show himself.”

She almost didn’t seem to hear my explanation, only repeating that I came back for her. I smoothed her brow, feeling for a fever. Was she in shock?

“Of course I came back for you, Kira,” I said firmly.

She slipped away from me, crumpling to the floor at my feet, her head down. “Yes, of course. I’m yours, after all, because of the contact. I understand your responsibility to your family is important.”

The way she said she was mine as if it was a bad thing and only because of some damned contract made all my pent up frustrations bubble to the surface. I pulled her up to the couch to sit beside me and forced her to look at me. Taking out my phone, I scrolled to Ivan’s messages, showing her everything. “My brother said I could cut my losses if I want to,” I said. “But I don’t. I’m here.”

She nodded, handing me back my phone. “I appreciate that you didn’t leave me with someone who’s pure evil. I’m really grateful, Yuri.”

“Waspure evil,” I corrected. “He can’t hurt you ever again. For real, this time. He’s gone.”

“Yes,” she agreed, clasping her hands in her lap and thanking me yet again. I was sick of her thanking me. She was flat out refusing to understand. “You’ll always do the right thing. You’re a good man,” she said dully.

“Yes, I am.” I took one of her hands and kissed it, determined to make her see the truth. “A good man who loves you.” She looked up, shocked, and my voice rose. “I love you, Kira, damn it.” There. It was out. I was free, but suddenly vulnerable as she continued to look at me in wide-eyed silence. I had to know if she loved me back. “I could keep you locked up,” I said, hurrying to continue. “But that’s not what I want. Yes, you’re mine, but only if you want to be mine. I only want you to stay with me for one reason.”

“What reason?” she asked, voice cracking.

My sweet wife was so broken, and all I wanted was to gather up the pieces and put them back together, but I couldn’t force anything. That wasn’t what she needed, and my own needs had to take a back seat.

“We can take it slow,” I said. “I can wait. You’re completely safe now and in control of your own life. If you want to get your own place, I can arrange that. But I want to take you out. To dinner, to movies, whatever you want. I just want to be with you, Kira.”

“Is that possible?” she asked. a tremulous smile beginning to form on her lips. But she still didn’t dare hope and it broke my heart.

“Do you mean because of my brothers? They can go straight to hell if they give me any grief.”

Her smile grew stronger, as she saw I was choosing her. Finally. Something I should have done long ago, but I meant to make her see she was my number one from now on. The only thing in my life that mattered.

“I don’t want to move out. I love your house.”

“Our house,” I said. “And? Is there anything else? Is it just because you love our house?”

She laughed, a sound I needed to hear and that filled my heart with hope. She reached for me and pulled my face close to hers. “I love you,” she finally said. “Oh my God, you don’t know how long I’ve been trying to tell you that.”

I kissed her, hard, then pulled away because my grin was too wide to keep kissing her. “Say it again,” I demanded.

Her fingers curled in my hair and clasped behind my head. “Sometimes I don’t mind at all when you boss me around,” she said.

“Then tell me, my love.”

Her lips gently touched mine, her tongue dipping between them. “I love you,” she breathed against my mouth.

I wrapped my hands around her waist and pulled her soft body against me. Pushing her shirt up, I smoothed my palms up her back, deepening our tentative kiss. She pulled away, glancing at the door leading to the front of the jet.

“No one will bother us,” I promised. It was the same flight attendant who’d been dragged along on the rushed trip over here, and like the first time, I wouldn’t be requiring any of his services.

I drew her onto my lap and she eagerly straddled me, smiling when my cock rose to meet her. I gripped her hips and groaned at the feel of her. She froze, her hands hovering above my chest.

“Does it hurt? Did I hurt you?”
