“Yes, I know. I kept an eye on you while you were gone. Not because you are the heir, but because I love you. I did everything I could to keep you safe, to never have to lose you as I’ve lost others.”

His father hung his head, looking completely lost as West ran through a myriad of emotions.

When his father looked up with glowing sea-green eyes, West fell back a step.

“Son, I have stayed out of this war as long as I could, and yes, there is a war brewing that is being brought to our doorstep. The name I was known by before you and your mother was Oceanus. I am a Titan, one that is older than the Goddesses. I have stayed neutral through everything, not throwing my hat in, but seeing what Crius and Atlas had in store… what they did… I cannot let Cronus walk this earth ever again.” His father’s face looked torn yet West saw the resolve there.

“I am very sorry for keeping this from you for so long.” His father, not Zale Murphy but Oceanus, put his hands on West’s shoulders as he looked into his eyes. “I bequeathed you with my power before you took your first breath and I will care for you until my last. This I swear as Oceanus, Titan of the seas, to you, Weston Murphy, son of my blood and my heart. This will be a long battle that had I not sworn neutrality, I would stand beside you and fight if I could.” His father’s hands lit up on his shoulders and he felt a shock as power moved through his body like electricity.

The power flooded through him, as if it had been leaking through a crack in the door and someone finally opened it wide.

He looked into the eyes of his father as they returned to the ones he had seen his whole life, blue with flecks of golden brown, but for the first time, West saw a stranger.

He saw a Titan.

The End
