“I love you, my warrior,” she whispered as she tried to regain her composure.

He put his hand to the back of her neck and pulled her into a kiss that was heated with more than just the words they confessed.

“Please tell me this is okay,” he whispered against her lips, and they both knew what he meant, what they had been leading up to. For days. Weeks.

She simply nodded as Devon moved the strap of her gown to the side, his lips trailing kisses along her shoulder. She felt a purr leave her lips as his hands removed the other strap, letting her gown fall to the floor in a puddle at her feet.

He stood back, taking her in. Her nudity not affecting her, but his look of pure desire caused her to take a deep inhalation.

“Gorgeous…” he murmured before moving back in for a kiss that ravaged.

Her hands slipped to the bottom of his shirt, pulling it up, aggravated she had to stop kissing him for the small moment it took to pull his shirt over his head and toss it away.

Their passion engulfed them in Godfire, their kisses unceasing as she pushed his pants and underwear down, leaving him bare to her. Both of their movements impatient and full of the desire they had held back for so long.

Before she could take in the visual of the man she loved fully nude, he lifted her, her legs wrapping around his waist as he moved them to the bed.

She could feel his hardness pressed against her and felt a thrill of excitement run up her spine.

“This will not be the slow love making I had hoped for our first time,” he whispered as he laid her down, his mouth moving to her breast, gently licking and sucking at her nipple, lavishing it before he spoke again. His deep voice a chill against her naked flesh. “I don’t have the patience for it. That will be next time, I promise.”

He moved up to kiss her again, and in a suddenness she was both unprepared for but in desperate need of, he plunged inside of her, her gasp caught by his lips.

Her nails dug into his back as he rocked against her, her head rolling to the side as he kissed her neck, whispering every desire he had and all his declarations of love. His body took hers in the carnal way she had only dreamt of until now.

It didn’t take long before a white light burst across her vision, her body going stiff as she found a release that cleared every thought but him from her mind. She heard a far away voice call out his name, one that sounded like her own. As the white light receded, she caught his smirk full of male pride before he kissed her long and hard, finding his own powerful release.

No words were spoken between them as Devon continued to kiss her, not leaving her body.

“I meant to take my time, but I have needed you for so long…” he murmured as he pressed another kiss to her swollen lips.

“No,” she whispered against his lips, his head pulling back to look at her. “It was perfect. Just perfect.”

A smile she had never seen before moved across his face, brightening his eyes, not with Godfire, but true happiness.

Contentment.

Devon made good on his promise to make love to her slowly after that. They explored every inch of each other, memorizing each other after having been held apart for so long. Neither of them sure if this was real or the most spectacular dream.

Two broken pieces of a whole, separated for lifetimes, had fused back together. Though it still bore the scar of being separated, the tissue of that scar had only made it that much stronger.

Their bodies and souls finally together as one.

Chapter 31

Devon pulled her down on to his chest as he kissed her hair and told her to rest.

He ran his hands over her back as he felt her move to get comfortable, her head right over his heart that was beating way too fast. Her hand moved over his chest, following the paths of his scars that had once run across his torso in his previous life.

In the past he was careful not to let anyone see his scars, much less allow them to touch them. He released a breath as he felt a weight lifting from his soul at finally letting someone in, having someone to love him as he was.

With his mind at peace, it took hardly anytime at all for him to fall into a peaceful sleep.

As if he had only blinked his eyes closed, he opened them and was no longer in bed holding Persephone but standing in what look liked a large field where clouds moved along the ground as they would in the sky. He turned a full circle but could recognize nothing of his surroundings.

He caught sight of something, or someone, moving towards him through the clouds. He watched until he could clearly see it was Persephone walking towards him.

Her hair was bound back with flowers, a golden crown on her head, a long white dress that look like a second skin on her body with a golden belt. She was barefoot he noticed, and his throat bobbed with some unnamed emotion at seeing her like this.
