I might say I’ve gone a bit overboard, but it’s kept my mind from wandering while I listen to music that I put on.

I’m just about finished when I hear booming laughter coming from the main room of the clubhouse. Wiping my hands, I make my way to the kitchen door and glance out to find the guys are back. I scan the room and spot Styxx and Scythe standing with one of the clubwhores between them. All of them laughing at something.

My heart starts racing, and I slink back into the kitchen, not knowing what I should say or do. There’s no way I imagined what I saw out there. Scythe didn’t say anything to the other woman. He just allowed her to touch him. The way she was rubbing on both Scythe and Styxx was sickening and nearly more than I could bare seeing. It makes my stomach churn, and the need to puke is nearly overwhelming.

Right now, I’m trapped in the kitchen. There’s no way to escape without anyone seeing me.

If I want out of there, I have only one option, suck it up, walk out of there, put my big girl panties on, and demand to know what’s going on and why he’s allowing some skanky bitch to touch him when he and I are supposedly together.

Or am I imaging that as well.

Damnit. I hate when anxiety hits me like this. I don’t like the feeling of losing my self-confidence.

CHAPTER23

JOSEPHINE

I’m a coward.

A total coward.

Instead of going out there and confronting Scythe about what the hell was going on, I hid. Talk about being an idiot. I finished putting dinner together and stayed in the kitchen. The music blared from the other room, and when I couldn’t hide any longer, I made my way out there. I intended on telling everyone the food was ready, but the first thing I saw was Scythe and Styxx were missing from the room.

My mind whirls with images of what I’ve seen in the past mixed with the stories I’d heard. I try to shake off the thought of Scythe being with anyone else, but I can’t. I need air.

Without talking to anyone or letting them know about dinner being ready, I make my way outside. My chest feels heavy, and I can barely breathe. Everyone can figure out for themselves there’s food in the kitchen when they go in there.

I step out into the dimming evening, and the sun shines through the trees. I take a deep breath inhaling the wonderful scent of fresh air. I walk slowly around the clubhouse, making my way to the picnic tables. I slow down to a crawling pace when I hear deep voices talking. I recognize one of them and peek around the corner of the building and find Scythe and Styxx talking with one of the pocket pussies . . . the one that had her hands all over him.

“Don’t give a fuck what you want, it’s not happenin’.” Scythe’s booming voice penetrates through the buzzing that wants to take over in my head.

“But you want me . . . I know you do. There’s no way that woman appeases your appetite,” the woman purrs and goes to brush her hands against his chest.

“You’re pushing your luck, Slick,” Styxx warns harshly.

Slick? What kinda of name is that? Wait, I don’t even want to know how she got it. I shudder at the thought.

“Styxx,” Slick pouts, “I just want to experience the two of you together, just like the others have. Scythe’s woman doesn’t have to know.”

What the hell? Is this bitch for real?

Feeling a burst of anger swell within my chest, I step forward, arms crossed, and glare at the three of them.

“I don’t have to know what?” I snap, meeting each of their gazes.

“Freckles,” Scythe murmurs and motions for me to come to him.

I shake my head and ignore the desire to do just that.

“Someone want to tell me what I’ve stumbled upon?” I ask, leveling a glare at the bitch. “Or should I leave and let you all continue? Maybe you should give her what she wants. It wouldn’t be the first time you two do something like that.” I switch my anger to Scythe and meet his gaze. “It’s not like you have had the chance to do whatever you want. I mean, that’s what you were doing when you answered the phone not that long ago.”

Scythe narrows his eyes, leveling me with a glare of his own. “You want to tell me what you’re talking about?”

“What did you think with me losing my memory that I’d never remember that bit? Well, unlucky for you, I did. Woke up this morning with everything.” I straighten, brush my hair over my shoulder, and sneer. “I remember everything. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll leave the three of you to do whatever. I’m not going to be a part of this bullshit.”

I take a total of three steps before I’m spun around and yanked into Scythe’s front.

“Let me go,” I snap.
