Stepping out behind the sheikh was his fiancée, a lovely and flustered eighteen-year-old girl whose angelic aura was a startling contrast with Khadem's air of danger.

The sheikh kept a possessive arm around Prue's waist as he introduced Ilyas' secretary. "Ember will speak to your dean on my behalf—-"

"Is that really necessary?" Prue asked uncertainly.

"You're now part of the royal family," Ember said gently. "There are safety protocols to be observed, and we need to make sure that your university abides by them."

A limousine was already on standby when they stepped out of the hotel, and Prue couldn't help thinking how inordinately sweet her fiancé was acting when he dropped a gentle kiss on her forehead.

But when his lips moved down to her ear, it was then he whispered, "I want you to promise you'll think of me fucking you the whole day."

Sigh. She should've known he was only putting on an act.

Khadem stepped back and smiled pleasantly at his fiancée. "Be a good girl and do as I say, yes?"

Prue was still blushing at Khadem's words even as she followed Ember into the backseat of the limousine. What Khadem had asked her to do was insane, but...she also knew this early on that she was going to do it, too.

In the meantime, however...

Prue turned to Sheikh Ilyas' secretary with a hesitant smile. "I'm sorry Khadem gave you additional work because of me. I hope this doesn't inconvenience you too much."

"You have nothing to worry about," Ember assured the younger girl. "I'm very glad to do this since—-" Ember flashed a grin. "I'm getting paid quite handsomely for it, too."

Prue couldn't help being charmed. "You're so..."

"Unexpected friendly," Ember guessed, "considering I'm working for a demon prince?"

Prue gasped.

"Or shall I saythedemon prince?"

Prue did her best to stifle her laughter...but failed. "Oh my gosh. I can't believe you just said that about Sheikh Ilyas."

"You can just call him Ilyas, you know. Heisgoing to be your brother-in-law."

"I find him terribly intimidating," Prue confessed. "More so even than the Crown Prince. Silly, right?"

Ember shook her head. "Not at all. The whole palace knows Sheikh Ilyas is just demonic, 24/7."

Prue choked back a giggle. "Aren't you scared of what he'd do if he finds out..."

"He knowsexactlywhat I think of him." Ember had to stifle her own smile at the nearly-comical expression of incredulity on the younger girl's face.

"And you're stillalive?"

"The thing is, all four of them surprisingly prefer honesty over flattery...most of the time."

"Oh." Prue mentally filed this bit of information for future reference. "Have you been working for the royal family for long?"

"About fourteen months?"

Prue couldn't help squirming a bit. "I've only known Khadem for days..."

Ember was starting to understand why Sheikh Khadem adored his fiancée so much. The younger girl was just so unbelievably adorable and nice.

"It's the same with Seven," Ember reminded Prue, "so don't worry about it. I think it's just a Huznan thing. They tend to be, um, exceptionallyefficientin the romance department."

Prue couldn't help smiling. Khadem told her earlier that his older brother used to go through a dozen secretaries every month until Ember came along. Ember was the only one who had been able to meet Sheikh Ilyas' standards, and Prue was beginning to see why.
