“No. I’m ready.” Desire and resolve were a heady mix when a man was about to make love to the man and the woman he most desired in the world and who possessed his heart.

Robert slowly released his breath. “Turn around, Elizabeth.”

She did as requested, and slowly Robert untied her ivory gown. Inch by inch, Lizzie’s radiant skin was revealed as the dress gaped open.

Ash couldn’t stand still any longer, so he came to Robert’s side, then pressed his lips to the tender skin of Lizzie’s neck. She moaned and slowly tilted her head back. Ash placed his palm on her long neck, feeling the pulse pound against his skin as Robert undressed her.

“You are enchanting,” he whispered.

Robert slid kisses along her spine as the dress spilled to the floor in a cloud of pale silk.

Ash forgot to breathe as he concentrated on the sight before him. Elizabeth wore no stays, and her chemise was almost transparent. From where he stood, he could see her perfect breasts and her dark, pouting nipples.

Slowly, she turned. With her gaze locked with Robert’s, she pulled the string that tied her chemise around her neck, then loosened the garment. It slid down her body slowly like a caress. Robert stood stock still as his gaze lingered on Elizabeth.

She stepped forward, then began to undress Robert. Slowly, she slid his morning coat off his broad shoulders.

“Let me do it, love,” Robert growled gently. “I can’t take much more of this.”

Elizabeth laughed. “At least allow Ash and me to help you.”

Robert shook his head. “I can’t.” Balancing on foot, he pulled one boot free. Then repeated the task with the other.

As Ash watched, his stomach swooped like a murmur of starlings. Robert quickly unbuttoned his falls. He pulled his linen shirt over his head, then pushed his breeches down his narrow hips.

Though he’d seen Robert naked before, Ash’s eyes widened at the sight of Robert’s engorged cock. It glistened with the evidence of his arousal. A groan escaped at the thought that they were actually going to be in the same bed with one another. No longer did they have to hide in a barn or in a tree house to be intimate.

“Your turn, Ash.” Elizabeth reached up to untie his cravat, but he took a step back.

“Like Robert, I need to do this. Otherwise, I’ll come before I even crawl into bed. He smiled a lopsided smile. “I want this time together to be memorable, but not in that way.” He laughed. “Let me wash up first.” He ran a hand down his body. “I have mud on me. I don’t want a thing to mar the beauty before me.”

Both Elizabeth and Robert chuckled apprehensively. It felt right that they suffered from a bout of nervousness just like him.

“Go to bed, and I’ll join you.” Ash turned and walked behind a bathing screen where a pitcher of fresh water and a basin rested on a small table. The screen was angled in such a way that he could watch as Robert pulled back the covers for Elizabeth. As soon as she was in, Robert followed.

Robert took Elizabeth in a sensuous kiss, then turned to Ash and waggled his eyebrows. Elizabeth had her arms around Robert’s waist as their gazes were glued on Ash. With such an audience, he couldn’t help but tease them as he slowly palmed his hardened cock. He reached up to slowly untie his cravat while waggling his eyebrows. If he could make them laugh, he wouldn’t be so nervous.

“Hurry,” Robert demanded.

Elizabeth laughed at Robert’s impatience.

Before Ash could untie the mathematical knot of his neckcloth, the door opened with a bang. Immediately, Robert’s and Elizabeth’s gazes flew to see who would dare interrupt them.

“I knew I’d find you here. You’ve ruined her,” a shrill voice called out.

Ash’s heart accelerated at the realization that they’d been caught. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Reality possessed a wicked bite. They hadn’t considered how to protect their secrets, not to mention each other as they proceeded with their marriage and consummation. Now everything was in danger.

Good God, it was broad daylight. Anyone could walk in on them. What if Ash’s father found out what they were doing? He was a fair man but very traditional in his thinking. He had no doubt his father would banish him. He wouldn’t understand how Ash could love two people at the same time, particularly if one was Robert.

With a slight shake of his head Robert’s eyes met Ash’s. It was the signal to stay put and stay calm. Ash inhaled a deep, silent breath. The next few minutes would seem like hours.

By then, Elizabeth had the sheet drawn up to hide her chest.

“What are you doing in bed with her?”

Ash couldn’t place the voice, but the insult to Lizzie was as plain as day.

Robert arched a haughty eyebrow as his gaze met the intruder. “You’ll not speak that way about Elizabeth. This is my business, Aunt Eleanor.”
