“Do ye love me?” For the first time Lachland seemed vulnerable. “If ye do, I want to be with ye. To find a way.”

“I do,” Caelan whispered. “I do Lachland.”

It seemed an eternity before their mouths collided, and Caelan grabbed Lachland around the shoulders, not wanting the kiss to ever end. Lachland did not disappoint, he kissed him with fervor, until making Caelan’s legs weak.

“We will be together, I promise,” Lachland said pressing his forehead against his. “I want to have a life with ye.”

It was an impossible dream, which Caelan allowed himself to believe for the moment.

“Kiss me again.”

FOUR MONTHS LATER...

“And we have been overtaken and slaughtered whilst ye wait to shoot yer arrow,” Brock commented with annoyance. “Get yer head out of the clouds.”

Caelan chuckled. “I am about to beat ye. I would not be so keen on pushing me to hurry.” He loosed the arrow and it hit dead center of the target, to the right of Brock’s which had missed the center.

“Ye owe two drinks at the tavern,” Caelan said. “One more?”

“Nay,” Brock replied with a sneer. “We do nae have to patrol tomorrow, are ye going to the village?”

Caelan shook his head. “I am going to visit family.”

The next day, once the last orders of the day were given, Lachland rode away, not bothering to make any excuses. Caelan on the other hand headed in the directions of his family home.

Usually, Lachland went directly to the cottage, while Caelan went to the village or to spend time with his family prior to going to the cottage.

In truth they’d found a small cottage where they could spend time together regularly. The widow who owned the small plot of land with two cottages, was thankful for the rent they paid. Being the woman was so old, she rarely went anywhere and was happy that Caelan stopped at the village to get her food items.

The fire in the hearth could not compete with the inferno within as Lachland pushed deeper into Caelan, every ounce of his being begging for more and more. Grabbing Caelan’s hips, he held him in place pulling out and then driving in, over and over until he could not keep from losing his hold on reality.

Caelan’s took himself in hand, working his own length shuddering in release just as Lachland pulled out spilling onto his lover’s backside. The view of Caelan’s opening glistening was a sight he dreamed off on the nights they slept apart.

Caelan collapsed onto the blankets, eyes closed, lips parted, breathing ragged. “Ye are so good.”

A chuckle escaped his lips, the sound become more normal to his own ears. “Only because it is ye.”

Lachland rolled his lover onto his back and lay next to him. “I love ye. Never forget it.”

“How can I. Ye say it often.”

It wasn’t often they spent time at the cottage, once a sennight perhaps, but it was worth keeping the cottage. They did not know what the future held, for now, they lived in the moment, enjoying the times together.

“What are ye thinking?” Lachland asked lazily.

Lifting up, Caelan hovered over him. “That I wish for ye to kiss me again.”

The End.
