“But mostly,” he said, standing up and pulling me to my feet. “I want to kiss you. I’ve dreamt about your kisses, Johnson Jones. How do you feel about that?”

“I feel great about that!” I shouted, laying one on him before he even had a chance to reply.

His full lips were soft yet demanding. His arms were strong and held me close. His kiss promised the sweetness of real love… and great sex. I knew in that moment I’d never get enough of Voila the Immortal Match Guy. He was the Prince Charming I’d always dreamed about. The brownstone, Jeeves and the white steed were icing on the cake. Kurt was the real prize, and I knew in my heart we would make each other happy for the rest of time.

“Is it too soon to say, I love you?” he whispered in my ear.

There was a real possibility I was about to tackle him and embarrass everyone present.

“Umm… no, not too early since I love you too,” I confessed, much to his delight. “However, don’t say it again until we’re alone. It makes me want to do some very private things to you in this very public setting.”

“Good to know,” he said with a laugh of joy that filled me up.

Our friends and family were cheering. Luigi brought out wine coolers for all. We pushed all the tables together and ate delicious Italian food. The evening was better than anything I could have dreamed up. Kurt sat next to me and we held hands as the people we loved chatted and enjoyed each other.

After a dessert of tiramisu coupled with lots of laughing and a few more kisses exchanged with my boyfriend, it was time to call it a night.

Kurt had put himself out there. I was going to do exactly the same.

“Your place or mine?” I whispered.

His eyes grew huge and his smile had to have hurt his cheeks. “How about mine? You seem to have guests.”

“True that,” I said, tingling all over.

I quietly handed Dwayne the key to my house. He gave me a hug.

“Dreams do come true, my friend,” he said. “And you deserve love. It’s a beautiful thing.”

Zorro popped his head in between us. “And… sex with love is out of this world! Trust me on that.”

“Ready?” Kurt asked.

“Never been more ready,” I replied.

Later that night, as we cuddled in Kurt’s king-size bed in his adorable brownstone on the Upper East Side after the most mind-blowing sex I’d ever had, I sighed with happiness. Dwayne had been correct. I did deserve love, and I gave it willingly to Kurt. However, Zorro won first prize. I’d had sex before, but I’d never been in love with the person I’d had sex with… until now. My goat-shifting buddy was spot on. Sex was great, but sex with love was positively beyond.

Helen had been wise as well. My world had gotten so bright, I needed shades. It felt glorious.

“I love you,” I whispered.

“Love you more,” Kurt replied, drawing me closer and kissing me sweetly.

I smiled at him. “Not possible.”

“Let’s call it a tie.” He kissed me again.

“Deal,” I told him.

It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship—one that I would work on and give myself to for the rest of time. I’d thrown away all my torpedoes and gotten my own happily ever after.

And, I finally realized, I was worthy of it.
